The portal 15min.lt and some medical representatives stated that the abolition of the mobile points could have been determined by order of the Minister, because its draft contains a provision on the destruction of the description of the mobile points.
The minister himself says that this bill was only a working draft version, and the mobile points will certainly remain.
Call it an alternative
Currently, COVID-19 testing can be done at mobile checkpoints by registering with a coronavirus hotline.
According to the minister, the possibility of carrying out a study with the referral of a family doctor would be an additional alternative, which is especially important for people who live outside the big cities.
He said the portal requested his comment only after an article on the destruction of mobile points had already been published.
“I would like to start with the propagation of liars, which is planned to destroy the mobile points, I want to say that this is the dissemination of incorrect, misinterpreted information. (…) No one is going to destroy the mobile points, they are preparing to create opportunities for additional patients, ”said the minister at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Not all patients live in metropolitan areas where there are mobile points, they also need to do these tests and investigations, and it is not easy to travel to mobile points, metropolitan residents do not always understand and appreciate this, especially those who drive cars. The virus is spreading in Lithuania, we must take care of the entire Lithuanian population, and this would be an additional opportunity, as well as all the other tests that can be performed on a family doctor, ”the minister explained about the situation.
The discussion was sparked by the removal of the inventory.
The draft Ministerial Order on the collection of swabs for the diagnosis of COVID-19 is made public in the legal framework. It is subject to coordination with other institutions and associations.
The provision in the same, according to which the next order of the Minister of March 16 is repealed – regarding the description of the investigation procedure in mobile coronavirus points, provoked a discussion.
Toma Kundrotė, the director of the Association of Family Physicians, believes that this provision would mean the destruction of the mobile points.
“The new order says that the description of the order of the mobile points is being destroyed. What does it mean if the points are not removed, then what will they do if they don’t have a description of the procedure? ”T. Kundrotė told BNS.
Veryga, for his part, said at a press conference that there were no deliberations to abandon the mobile points. He did not comment in detail on the provisions of the bill and said that it was only a draft document.
“It just came to our attention then. (…) If today we handed over all our draft documents to the media and discussed every line, I don’t know if it would be very constructive here,” said the Minister.
Doubts about security
Veryga said that arrangements are currently being made to ensure safety in coronavirus testing.
“It should not be imagined that it will be done in the same routine way that infected patients will go to the family doctor’s office and there will be tests done,” said the minister.
Certainly, there are procedures that will take into account all safety requirements, and it will not be an obligation, it will be an opportunity to do such tests, all the more so when we hear complaints from patients who need to be tested before going to the hospital, for example. to go to the mobile point, ”noted A. Veryga.
However, Ms Kundrotė believes that GPs will only be able to perform tests after they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus and the administrative burden on them has been reduced.
She said medical representatives expressed their negative stance at a meeting last week.
“I saw (the draft), the meeting was separated because of that. Your position is as follows: understand that the infection will not go away and you will still have to work with it for a lifetime. This is the case when there are vaccines and when we are safe as doctors, when we are responsible for thousands of things, from paperwork to human health, then we can do those smears, both planned and additional, and so on, “he added.
“The mobile point of the city, where everyone goes, the contact is minimal, and if they start driving to the institution, they contact each other, one covid, the other not, as we will select, which is which, although only later of the test we find out post factum that. K. Garuolienė: there was no idea to give up points
Kristina Garuolienė, Deputy Minister of Health responsible for this transformation, BNS also said on Tuesday that there was no idea to give up mobile points, which are planned to expand.
“We just realized that as we expanded our mobile hotspots, the problem was that we needed more mobile hotspots. And in those municipalities where there are none, it was encouraged to happen. Defend God, there has never been such a consideration of giving up a mobile point, ”said K. Garuolienė.
The vice minister said she could not explain in detail what the article of the draft ministerial order prepared in October means, which repeals the order of the Minister of Health of March 16 on the description of the procedure for the investigation in mobile points.
“It just came to our attention then. But mobile points are just being expanded and we are encouraging municipalities to set up there. Only a few small ones, for which it is inefficient to have a permanent mobile point due to low population, it is better. have some kind of nurse in primary health care, who does tests for some time a day when there are sick people, ”said K. Garuolienė.
“Currently, two thirds of the municipalities do not have mobile points and people do not have to be distracted, this can be done entirely by the primary health care institution,” added the deputy minister.
Last day 413 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed, and five people died. One person died from other causes.
A total of 11 thousand people in Lithuania were infected with the coronavirus. 362 people, 6844 – still sick, 4329 – recovered. A total of 141 people died from COVID-19 and 48 from other causes.
9,390 suspected coronavirus samples were analyzed during the previous day. So far a total of 964 thousand have been investigated. 352 samples.
