According to Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga, as the situation has deteriorated, the quarantine will be announced in 8 more municipalities in the country: Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda, as well as in the districts of Vilnius, Širvintos, Šilalė, Trakai and Telšiai .

“When evaluating the complicated situation, the quarantine conditions themselves have been supplemented. In those municipalities where the quarantine enters into force, it is established that the use of masks will be mandatory in practically all public places, except people who practice sports, participate in high-level skills ”, emphasized A. Veryga.

The exceptions will also apply to disabled people, masks should not be used outside the residential area and when there are no other people within a radius of 20 meters, except close relatives.

Also new is the fact that the flow of service users and other visitors is limited in cultural, leisure, entertainment and sports institutions. It is necessary to secure at least 10 square kilometers. m area of the facilities of the place of provision of the service by a recipient of the service or another visitor.

A distance of at least 2 meters between staff, recipients or other visitors will also be guaranteed. This requirement does not apply to high skill sports exercises.

According to the minister, these provisions will also come into force in those municipalities where quarantines have already been introduced to this day.

The head of the SAM stressed that the quarantines issued for the provision of medical services are not restricted in any way, except for the existing prohibitions on patient visits.

New restrictions will be proposed

At the same time, A. Veryga reported that on Wednesday a decree will be delivered to the Government prohibiting the organization of events in open and closed spaces, as well as prohibiting meetings, except for high-level sports competitions that are held without spectators.

These proposals will be made on Wednesday. If they are approved, they will go into effect on Friday, “he said.

According to A. Veryga, the ban on cultural events for the disabled, where tickets are sold electronically, ensures access control and a distance of two meters between spectators.

At the same time, the minister did not rule out the possibility of more municipalities being announced on Wednesday.

“The city of Šiauliai is” on the border. “I do not rule out the possibility that this amendment will also be proposed on Wednesday. Of course, it will not come into force on the same day. But I can say for the sake of interest that of the green zone When the criteria were approved, 15 municipalities entered the yellow zone, actually there are 5 municipalities in the green zone and they are Tauragė, Alytus, Varėna, Utena and Rokiškis. So the situation is getting worse even in those that were green, “he said .

According to the latest data, 766 cases have been detected in the last day. This means that currently the total number of COVID-19 cases in Lithuania has reached the limit of 10,949 cases.

Two deaths were also identified. Their number is 136. 4166 people have already recovered from this virus.

There are currently 31,690 people in solitary confinement as of June 1. 378 import cases were registered.

A total of 47 people died from other causes, but they were infected with the coronavirus.

Duplicate cases

After the number of new COVID-19 infections announced on Sunday, Minister Aurelijus Veryga warned that if people continue to celebrate the holidays and “don’t get pissed off,” the number of cases will double to 1,200.

“Those numbers go up to 600. Then if they double and go up to 1200. Of course, they will grow. If we do not get nervous and want to celebrate the holidays, as seen on television in the reports, it is clear that they are growing, they cannot grow. If we want to run everywhere and not get sick, this is not the case. If the measures that are in place do not work, if people do not follow them, if we see images like the ones we see in Poland, when there are protests, clashes with the police, then of course they are growing. If we approach like spring, they will begin to decrease, “the minister told reporters.

When asked if universal quarantine would be a solution, Veryga replied that “it was not necessarily necessary.” “Because there are municipalities where the numbers are very small, why announce this quarantine? People who behave responsibly allow them to live life a little more calmly. Where it is really difficult, it is clear that quarantine is needed, ”says Veryga.
