Nor does it speak of the priorities of the Union of the Homeland – Christian Democrats of Lithuania, which it will propose to enshrine in the coalition agreement.

“I know what I would like to bring, but to bring it we need some formal decisions and maybe there will be other opinions and additions, so I think we can announce that on Thursday, or similar, all parties will probably have those contributions in the so-called agreement. coalition, ”I. Šimonytė told the portal 15min.lt on Tuesday.

She believes that “it should not remain on the sidelines” and the Freedom Party’s target is a same-sex couple, but reiterated that this is unlikely to be included in the government’s program and that decisions will be left to the Seimas.

“We will talk about that. If it will be registered in writing, if it will be in some way in the coalition agreement, or if it is intended that it will be registered in the LRV program, then there will be more discussions (…). It seems to me that the best way to do this is to discuss it where there is a representation of the nation, the representation of the nation is the Seimas ”, he said.

I. Šimonytė recognizes that the “sharp angle” in negotiating a contract with future coalition partners may be specific fiscal issues and emphasizes that possible changes could only be considered after assessing the need for public spending.

“I am not saying that the tax system should not change, should and can change, because we have several reserves that are still difficult to explain, we have the difference when a person’s taxes do not depend on how much they receive, but (..).) where does he get that money from, from what source or from what activity. It is obvious that these distortions are ”, affirmed the politician.

The candidate to lead the government stressed that steps could be taken to change the behavior of the people in support of the “green course”, but promised that the future coalition will not really change the tax system this year.

Ask Mr Veryga not to abandon his responsibility

Prime Minister candidate Ingrida Šimonytė urges Health Minister Aurelijus Verygas not to give up the responsibility of managing the COVID-19 situation and hand over the job to center-right rulers without problems after the formation of the new government.

She told the 15min.lt portal in response to the minister’s public invitation to a possible center-right health minister to come and learn about the situation in detail.

“I am a little more cautious with the statement of the minister yesterday. It seems to me an attempt to lose responsibility, although we are well aware that this Seimas will almost work for another three weeks. And this Government will not even act temporarily, but rather it will operate with full authority. The government will continue to hold office for some time in the future, therefore, to form a new one, approval will still need to be obtained, which will take several weeks, “said I. Šimonytė.

The politician stressed that so far the ministry has skimped on information about the real situation of the opposition and hopes that now they can get more.

“It seems to me that the minister still receives a salary and his team still receives a salary and bonuses for doing their work. There is no doubt that the acquisition should be as smooth as possible. But I would not want to try to share the responsibility now with those who, in fact, have tried to find out during the last six months what the real situation is and what could happen if the scenario happens again in the fall, “he said.

On his Facebook account on Monday, Veryga called on conservatives and liberals to “decide as soon as possible” on a new health minister.

“I promise that I will help that person get acquainted with the situation in detail, get acquainted with the existing institutions, staff activities, the means so that you do not have to plunge into cold water when starting work and try to orient yourself wasting precious time “, wrote.

With the number of new coronavirus cases growing rapidly in Lithuania in recent days, the number of infections in the country has reached 145.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants: 766 cases were reported on Monday, two people died per day.
