“The number of cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lithuania is increasing. As it grows, there is a growing shortage of human resources not only at the National Public Health Center (NVSC) but also at the Ministry of Health (SAM). The current situation is an example of a lack of labor. NVSC colleagues wanted to publish daily statistics at the usual time this morning and released provisional ones, ”explained Lina Bušinskaitė, spokesperson for the Minister of Health.

According to the representative of the Minister, yesterday’s cases were not fully integrated into the computer systems and were not processed properly.

“During the day, a general decision was made to issue a revised message yesterday with the exact number of cases. That was done. The information released overnight is the exact number of cases yesterday. Be patient and understanding. People who work here who can no longer do their jobs work here, ”said L. Bušinskaitė.

SAM hopes that the NVSC will alleviate the situation at least as much as the dozens of soldiers who came to the rescue.

“They are already trained, we hope they can adequately carry out at least the initial case studies, interview people, because then part of the workload would take off. The NVSC is helping more volunteers, for example Strong Together will also help, and details are being coordinated. Of course, we will seek further help not only for NVSC, but also for SAM, ”said L. Bušinskaitė.

Revised morbidity information

The NVSC reported that the statistics on coronavirus infection (COVID-19) released by the Center today (October 25) have been revised for October 24.

Due to the extremely high workload, specialists were unable to link the positive test results, so the general statistics released in the morning did not reflect the actual number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.

Currently the information is updated and yesterday 603 cases of contagion were confirmed in the country. Total until October 24. In Lithuania 10,184 cases of coronavirus infection were detected.

The number of victims of COVID-19 in Lithuania increased to 134.

This is the highest number of cases detected per day since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NVSC, which announced 415 new cases on Sunday, said that “extraordinary workloads” failed to link the positive test results and the general statistics released Sunday morning “did not reflect the actual number of confirmed cases of infection. for coronavirus “.
