“This time, the COVID-19 infection, which is constantly spreading in the country, did not escape the employees of Vilnius, Mažeikiai and Ariogala. All three workers with COVID-19 receive treatment at home. Employees did not have close contact with customers, but the employee at Mažeikiai may have been in contact with four colleagues who worked at the same Maxima store. The employees were isolated by themselves. The three colleagues who worked the same shift with an infected employee at the Akropolis Maxima food production workshop in Vilnius were also isolated. The last working day of the Mažeikiai Maxima XX employee is October 21. An employee of the Acropolis Maxima food production workshop was investigated for COVID-19 on October 24 because he had close contact with a person with COVID-19. His last day of work was October 22.
The store facilities and their subdivisions, where COVID-19 infected employees worked, were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected internally. “Today, we adhere to extremely strict hygiene requirements both in stores and in other departments. Shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased to ventilate the store. Employees too are familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance. We encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, ”says E. Dapkienė.
Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.
Starting Monday, October 26, in one of the twelve municipalities in the country where the quarantine will be introduced, buyers at Maxima stores will have the opportunity to receive a disposable mask for free. Currently, free face masks are distributed in Raseiniai, where local quarantine is introduced. In municipalities where local quarantine has been introduced, the flow of shoppers to Maxima stores is restricted.

A total of 31 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 20 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 808 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. At present, the responses to the tests of 25 employees are still pending.
