The victim of circumstances who sought help but was rejected and eventually broke down, or the cold-blooded murderer of his son? The answers to this question should be found in the Kaunas Regional Court, which has begun investigating the case of Alytus RK, 42, charged with the attempted murder of her young son.
Since the case contains data not only on the state of health of the minor victim, but also on specific problems, the lawyer defending the defendant Aušra Ručienė requested to hear the case in closed court hearings. This defense request was granted.
Although the appalling behavior of the woman, jumping from the high bridge along with the child into the water raised reasonable doubts about her guilt, forensic experts investigating the Alytus found that she could be prosecuted. However, according to lawyer A. Ručienė, her client’s health is problematic: she still visits psychiatrists.
He chose the most horrible way out: commit suicide with his sick son.
“Your son was diagnosed with a serious and incurable disease. He asked for help from the members of the Seimas, the Minister of Health. The woman was left completely alone, the man constantly works abroad and another older daughter is growing up with her, ”said the court attorney in Alytus.
According to the case, the child with whom his mother attempted suicide was diagnosed with an extremely severe form of autism.
“The final diagnosis was made at Druskininkai, a children’s sanatorium. The boy was removed prematurely from the sanitarium with his mother because he was yelling at other patients. Finally, the woman found herself in a desperate situation, not knowing what to do. The finale is such that he no longer wanted to live and danced off the bridge with the girl, ”lawyer A. Ručienė told the Delfi portal.
He received help only after a terrible incident.
According to Alytus’ lawyer, who was accused of killing her son and tried to kill her son, the worst thing about this situation is that the woman received help only after a serious incident.
“He wrote to several instances asking for help, we have copies of those letters. Nobody helped her. After all, there are boarding schools for these children, it has been said that they are closing. The boy screams all night, there is nothing he can do about it. And it responds to the only thing – a stoplight, “said the lawyer.
Long years in prison are threatened
The CDR, a former educator who appeared in court, fully admits her guilt. His defense attorney said he believed that the responsibility in this case should also lie with the State, whose authorities did not respond in time to the request for assistance.
“It is an unrealistically cruel story when a person has been put in a situation where they only see one way out by committing suicide. He also wanted to end his life, dancing in the water with his son, ”said lawyer A. Ručienė.
According to the accusations, Alytus faces a prison term of 10 to 20 years.
