On Friday, both responded on the Radio News program “What to Collect” the question of whether they supported Pope Francis’ support for a same-sex couple.
A. Armonaitė said he supported the Pope: “I am glad that people are emerging in the Catholic Church, the highest leaders who say that the Church must accept something different and be open.
This is actually a lot of fun. It should be added that in Lithuania, meanwhile, for example, our candidate from the Freedom Party in Kalvarija, who does not hide her LGBT orientation and plays the organ in the Šventežeris church, was ordered by her pastor not to appear in the church afterwards of the electoral campaign. It turns out that the Pope says one thing, and there are people who try to be holier than the Pope. “
He would like to create an environment in Lithuania where people feel safe: “I understand that my comrade shouldn’t feel really safe now, he shouldn’t feel capable of being himself and an equal member of the community. The goal of the Freedom Party is just to establish equality before the law, to create an environment where everyone can be themselves. “
A. Armonaitė noted that he sometimes visits the Bernardine Church and said he hopes to continue visiting regardless of his political views.
When asked about the Pope’s speech, R. Karbauskis replied that the Church had not changed its dogma: you could not establish families and marriages between people of the same sex.
“Speaking of (the Pope’s speech – Aut. Past). In this place his interpretation is interesting. He spoke of property and civil relations; that is what we are talking about, no matter how people relate, they must organize in a civil and property sense.
This statement is nothing new, and in Lithuania there is such concern throughout the world. Of course, there are states that have legalized single-sex families, but we certainly won’t, ”said R. Karbauskis.
When asked if he would be in favor of a civil society in a legal sense, the politician argued that in a legal sense, that relationship should be resolved if any laws are missing due to inheritance and other things.
“Talk about the need to build some kind of foundation to start a family, or someone trying to adopt children of the same sex. In Lithuania, this is unacceptable and we will not do it.
A. Armonaitė stated that he had heard R. Karbauskis support the association law and asked why people should be intimidated.
“It simply came to our knowledge then. We are talking about civil and patrimonial relations and I don’t know if a company law is needed to establish patrimonial relations in the Civil Code.
On the other hand, tell me, what is missing from the Civil Code now that the property relations of people who live together are people of the same sex, how are rights violated?
Pope Francis supported the gay civil association
We recall that Pope Francis declared on the basis of a civil union between people of the same sex. The thoughts expressed in the documentary Francesco are the first endorsement of its kind for the legalization of homosexual relations from the lips of the Catholic Pope.
“Homosexuals have the right to be in the family. They are children of God, he is quoted in one of the interviews for the film. – What we need to have is the Civil Association Law; in this way they would be legally protected. I defend it” .
Previously, while serving as archbishop in Buenos Aires, Pope Francis supported a civil partnership between gay couples. However, he had never said this before as Pope of the Catholic Church, the AFP news agency reported.
Documentary author Evgeny Afineevsky is known for his connections to the Vatican, and he knows the Pope personally.
