A Šiauliai County Resident Who Died Under Unknown Circumstances Died From COVID-19

A person over the age of 80 had comorbidities. COVID-19 has been approved for this person only this Thursday, October 22.

Specialists could not determine how this person was infected. This is the 126th coronavirus victim in Lithuania.

In addition, 6 deaths were confirmed yesterday (5 in Šiauliai county and 1 in Telšiai counties), when those infected with coronavirus died for other reasons.

Public health professionals urge people to follow all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection: hand hygiene, coughing, sneeze etiquette, use of personal protective equipment, physical distance, and more.

In hospitals, 255 people are treated for COVID-19

According to the Ministry of Health (SAM), 225 patients with confirmed COVID19 infection are treated in hospitals.

94 patients are being treated with oxygen masks and another 14 are undergoing artificial lung ventilation.

In the country, a total of 9,104 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, 4,956 people are still sick and 3,978 have recovered.

Of almost 17.2 thousand. more than 10.7 thousand of all hospital beds are currently occupied. Resuscitation beds are occupied by just over half: 372 of the existing 654.

Of the 591 beds with artificial lung ventilation, 185 are occupied, of the 6.1 thousand. 1.9 thousand beds were occupied with oxygen.

126 people died from coronavirus in Lithuania, and another 44 people died from other causes.
