In Poland, new COVID-19 morbidity and mortality records

The previous largest daily increase in COVID-19 cases in Poland was recorded last Saturday, when the infection was confirmed in 9,622 people.

On Wednesday, 130 deaths of people infected with coronavirus and 10,040 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the country.

The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country has risen to 214,686 since the start of the epidemic in March, of which 4,019 died, authorities said.

The Health Ministry’s Twitter message said that the effects of COVID-19 were directly related to the death of the most recent 31 victims, and another 137 patients also had comorbid chronic diseases.

On Thursday morning 10,091 patients with coronavirus infection were treated in hospitals in the country, 1,129 more than the day before. Of these, 812 required artificial lung ventilation.

A total of 10,204 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Poland so far, 3,320 of them in the last day, the Health Ministry said.

New restrictions have taken effect since last Saturday in Warsaw and other major cities now included in the “red” zone, the government said.

In these areas, all schools were closed and switched to distance education.

Restaurants must close at 9 pm local time; Wedding parties are prohibited and there are stricter restrictions on the number of people who can enter shops, public transport and services.

Most Polish stores open from 10 am to noon. local time is reserved for people over 60 years old.

A mandatory requirement to wear masks in public places has also been introduced across the country.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Wednesday he wanted to impose stricter restrictions on the record spread of the coronavirus across the country, which currently only applies to the “red zones” hardest hit by the epidemic. A decision should be made on this matter on Thursday.
