The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, for its part, intends to act on the quality of the work by requiring the contractor to correct the defects.

Olympic champion pentathlete Laura Asadauskaitė Zadneprovskienė told BNS that she visited the attic a few days ago to see the work in progress.

“They promised to open now, but we saw that the reality was different. We had to be in the sand a few days ago, we thought we would see how it is there, but nothing happens anymore ”, said the Olympic champion.

“The fencing room has been dismantled, the walls have been demolished, there is still a myriad of works, so there was resentment,” he added.

He shared the images from the Vilnius athletic field on Facebook, causing even greater dissatisfaction among the Olympic and athletic community.

This in no way can be called normal preparation. If the situation repeats itself this year, let people not be surprised why our Olympic team is drastically downsizing.

Headaches – and down the lines

Triple Diana Zagainova, who has a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics, says she was surprised when she saw the lines of the running tracks painted on the sand with the material from L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė.

“They drew a line with paint twice in one place, a line is not needed there. They probably painted once, they didn’t get it, they painted it a second time, they corrected it,” the Olympian told BNS.

“I am no longer talking about the lines being skewed, it is visible to the naked eye,” he added.

Depending on the athlete, the width of the treadmills is also different.

“Of course, there can always be something worse, but we are not asking for a miracle, just to draw simple lines,” Zagainova said.

He is currently training at Vingis Park Stadium, but as winter approaches, he worries about where to prepare for the Olympics.

“The eighth morning in Vingis Park is very cold”

Laura Asadauskaitė Zadneprovskienė is training at the Vingis Park stadium at the moment, the training, according to the Olympian, is becoming increasingly difficult due to the cold weather.

“In Vingis Park, the eighth morning is very cold, we will stretch for another month and then it will be zero, what will we do? Both the head and the heart hurt. I’m disappointed. There is a lot of desire to prepare. We are at a dead end, so you are thinking, how do you prepare for those Olympics? ”Said the Olympic champion.

She says she asked the question about delayed rebuilding and Deputy Education Minister responsible for sports Cornelia Tiesnesyte, but heard that the work was delayed due to red tape and its quality is affected by public procurement regulations.

“Now we are left without manege, without fencing room, winter is coming, it is cold, the question is – where to play sports, what to do? I asked that question, the Deputy Minister says it is disappointing, this is the situation because of public procurement, because we have to choose the cheapest company, ”said L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė.

According to the Olympic champion, due to poor training conditions, preparation for the Tokyo Olympics also suffers, and children have no place to play sports.

A. Palšytė: the worst situation more than once

Jumper Airinė Palšytė says that the situation at the Vilnius athletic field has repeatedly outraged, and the material published by L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė shows that nothing is changing.

“I have repeatedly outraged the current situation, the indifference of the government people and other absurd nuances, but it seems that not much is changing,” A. Palšytė told BNS.

“I will return to Vilnius in a couple of weeks, go to the manege myself, talk to the director of the manege about the current situation,” he added.

According to the athlete, high-level athletes preparing for the Tokyo Games are forced to be cold in the Vingis stadium or to spend more than an hour traveling to training sessions in other Lithuanian cities.

“It just came to our attention then. If the situation repeats itself this year as well, let people not be surprised why our Olympic team is drastically declining,” said A. Palšytė.

He also stressed that the issue of the conditions of the athletes should be raised directly with the members of the Seimas, but, according to the jumper, this will have to be done with the new parliamentarians, because until now it is “like blowing against the wind.”

The deputy minister promises to act

Kornelija Tiesnesytė, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of sports, said the contractor will have to be held accountable for improper work done during repairs.

“A defect report will be drawn up and the contractors will have to correct them,” K. Tiesnesytė said in a comment sent to BNS.

In April last year, the Lithuanian Olympic Sports Center (now the Lithuanian Sports Center) amounted to 3 million. EUR revision contract with Altitud ranga registered with Trakai.

This agreement is valid until the end of September 2021.

According to data from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, a little more than 2.8 million LTL was allocated for the repair of the handle in 2019 and 2020. euros.

Almost half of this amount is almost 1,365 million. EUR – allocated at the end of May of this year, in March of this year – 200 thousand, in January – 506 thousand. euros.

The remaining 786 thousand. in March of last year.

The contractor promises to let some athletes in in November.

Eugenijus Liachovičius, deputy director of production at Altitudė Ranga, informed BNS that at the beginning of November it is planned to admit some athletes to the manege facilities.

“All the equipment should arrive in two weeks, lockers and so on, so we will try to do this before November 3 and give part of the management to the athletes so they can play sports,” said a company representative.

According to him, the lines on the manege were drawn by a subcontractor – the company “Fortera”

“That our subcontractor made a mistake and drew an extra line, which is not necessary according to the work project. She is also an obstacle for me as a contractor, she will be removed from Monday, “said E. Liachovičius.

“It is difficult to explain how such a line could be drawn,” he added.

A representative from Altitudė Ranga also said the company would try to complete all the handling as soon as possible, but did not specify the exact timeframe.

“We will try to add it as soon as possible, we are not usually late, we will try to add it earlier, but I would not dare to say a specific date,” said the company representative.

In May this year, Linas Tubelis, director of the Lithuanian Sports Center, told LRT Television that the reconstruction of the manege was delayed due to lack of funds, as additional works appeared: the reconstruction became a major overhaul.

At the time, the head of the bureau stated that the main goal was to complete internal work by October 1.
