Precipitation warning: we won’t avoid quarantine without coronavirus safety

“There are basically two paths, the first is to try to test as much as possible, trace the outbreaks, trace the path of the virus and isolate the people involved. The second way: if the first way is no longer appropriate and the number of diseases has increased significantly, the second way is to stop activities, stop the work of cafes, bars, other public institutions and thus try to control the process after the introduction of universal quarantine. At the European summit, the president said.

He stressed that the first route was more acceptable to Lithuania and caused less damage to the economy and social life, but warned that the country’s epidemiologists were already “on the brink” when the outbreaks could no longer be traced.

“We are already on the edge of our health authorities, the National Center for Public Health, with little or a lot of tension after these outbreaks,” he said.

The president calls for all safety and disciplinary measures, that is, to maintain distances, use masks and other protective equipment, and “act responsibly so that society can live in a stable way and control of the situation does not escape from our hands”.

Promises to visit NVSC epidemiologists

He plans to visit the National Center for Public Health next week and meet with epidemiologists. The president stressed that his goal is to help epidemiologists, for whom “it is certainly not easy, who are under great stress and try to do the best they can in this situation.”

At the same time, he says that he understands the fatigue of society due to the restrictions applied, but asked to put up with the fate of other countries where the second wave of coronavirus has spread even more.

“I am very aware of the tiredness of society, I actually spoke with the leaders of practically all countries during this meeting of the European Council, I heard the situation in different countries. While we recognize that our situation is statistically alarming, the situation in some other countries is even worse. “It is not a question of reassuring someone here, but on the contrary, of warning that the situation can become even more complicated if we do not comply with certain requirements,” the president emphasized.

“Therefore, despite the accumulation of coronavirus fatigue, let us tell ourselves, dear ones, that what you are now is very serious. And the more we focus now, the more losses we will avoid in the future. Therefore, we must focus once again, mobilize all our will to get out of this crisis and solve it, “he urged.

In Lithuania, a record number of new infections was recorded for two days in a row: 255 new cases were reported on Thursday and about 281 cases on Friday. Three people also died from coronavirus in two days.

The virus is spreading in hospitals, care facilities, schools, and epidemiologists have not yet been able to track the infections of about a fifth of people.
