“That same day, we stopped admitting new patients, starting on October 14, as soon as we received the answers to prevent the spread,” Judita Daratienė, deputy director of Medicine at the Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital, told BNS.

The National Public Health Center (NVSC) reported that five new cases related to the outbreak were identified last day at the Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital. There are currently an estimated 16 cases of infection associated with the outbreak.

“During the routine examination, we found several asymptomatic cases and immediately took steps to prevent more cases of this type, suspending the procedures until Monday and examining all patients and staff,” commented J. Daratienė.

According to the deputy, staff who had close contact with infected patients are in self-isolation, but said they cannot yet name a specific number because studies are still being conducted to explain the prevalence of the infection.
