“A worker who has been diagnosed with coronavirus isolates himself at home for the second week because COVID-19 is a member of his family.

He was tested for coronavirus on October 12. The employee did not have close contact with customers, but was possibly in close contact with four colleagues who worked at the same Maxima store. The employees were isolated by themselves. We consult with the National Center for Public Health and, if necessary, take the recommended actions ”, says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The premises of the Šiauliai Akropolis Maxima store, where an employee infected with COVID-19 worked, were additionally cleaned and a complete internal disinfection was carried out. “In our stores there are stricter hygiene requirements: trolleys and baskets and various other surfaces are periodically disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for ventilation of the stores. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance, ”says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizing liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Taking care of the health of its employees, the Maxima retail chain has made it possible for all employees to get the seasonal flu vaccine for free.

“As the number of COVID-19 cases increases in the country, we understand that the coronavirus can affect everyone. We believe that the preventive protective measures we have taken will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it is equally important. that each of us feel responsible not only for our own safety, but also for the safety of those around us. Therefore, we invite our customers to be vigilant, to maintain a safe distance in stores, not to forget to wear masks protective gloves, disinfecting the hands and wearing free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance, ”says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department at Maxima.

A total of 24 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 17 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 759 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently 8 employee test responses are pending.
