We explained all this with Vikotrija Čmilyte-Nielsen, the leader of the liberal movement.
You say that there is a great advance in liberal ideas in this Seimas, but in the coalition you will be a complete minority compared to the great ranks of the conservatives. Won’t there be a breakthrough in conservative ideas with your help?
First of all, it is a bit premature to speak of a coalition. We are now awaiting the second round of the Seimas elections, in which we, the Liberal Movement, have up to nine single-member members and we are not delaying the coalitions at this time, because there is a fight waiting. Fight against representatives of different parties, representatives of different single-member states in Lithuania. We are thinking about it right now.
Do you mean that you have not decided yet whether you will go into a coalition with the Union of the Homeland – Lithuanian Christian Democrats?
I mean that the possible coalition and the deployment of forces in the Seimas will be determined on October 25. Today, we assume that a center-right coalition is more likely. Immediately the probability is higher, but that does not mean that will be the case. The results will still determine. It seems to me that without winning that fight, in the absence of circumstances, it is too early to keep thinking.
How will 10 or 20 liberals, in a coalition with 55 or 60 conservatives, make their ideas come true? Can you imagine that mechanism? What will you notice from a liberal?
If such a hypothetical situation arose, I have repeatedly mentioned that it is not interesting for us to be in power just because it is. We have our own program, our own provisions in different areas, but especially those to which we give special priority: education, environment, health, human rights, these areas are important to us. In each of them, we have key points.
