The coronavirus focus in Raseiniai is fading, but the situation in Kelmė district is worrying, says Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC).

The minister also stated that the situation when austerity measures are introduced in some municipalities and discarded in others may continue until Lithuania receives the vaccine.

NVSC representative R. Lingienė also stated that the situation is complicated in Kelmė district, where the incidence of COVID-19 is 100,000. the population has increased to 208.8 cases in the last two weeks and is three times higher than the Lithuanian average.

“From September 15 to October 11, a total of 71 cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded in Kelmė district, and Kelmė municipality was included in the list of high-risk municipalities. Epidemiologists at our center call on the Kelmė Emergency Commission to take action that should help stop the spread of infection in this city, ”said R. Lingienė.

According to the NVSC representative, the largest chimney in the district is at Kelmė Dairy, where 39 related cases and ten cases related to Kelmė Hospital were recorded.

“We have turbulent signs from the Lioliai welfare home located in Kelm distrito district, recently six cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in this institution,” said R. Lingienė.

When asked to name the “hot spots”, R. Lingienė stated that, despite the decrease in morbidity among them, Raseiniai, as well as Radviliškis, Kelmė, Plungė, Elektrėnai remain.

“Apart from Raseiniai, my colleagues working at the site asked the municipality of Kelmė to implement certain measures to limit the spread of the infection,” he asked what measures are recommended for the districts, said R. Lingienė.

The NVSC representative stated that the Kelmė District Municipality was recommended to establish a mobile checkpoint, cancel all events, introduce distance education in schools and, where possible, work remotely.

The quarantine was introduced in the Raseiniai district last Friday to stop the spread of the coronavirus. In the past two weeks, the COVID-19 incidence rate in the district is 100,000. The population of the municipality exceeded 1,1 thousand. cases.

In the last day, a total of 118 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in the country. 81 people have been infected from previously confirmed cases, two cases are imported, the circumstances of the infection of 35 people are unknown, the NVSC reported Tuesday.

Outbreaks of the disease are associated with 48 of the following cases: the virus is spread in medical institutions, employees of the police, the Department of Fire Protection and Rescue, Vilniaus Vandenai, teachers and students were infected.

One case of importation from Belarus and Norway was recorded.

48 new cases were registered in Vilnius, 36 in Kaunas, 14 in Šiauliai, 12 in Klaipėda, four in Telšiai, three in Marijampolė and one in Panevėžys counties.
