The Alytus District Court examined a criminal case in which an enraged Alytus resident was convicted of 5 burglaries, 2 robberies, serious health problems and attempted crimes during the Christmas period of 2019. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison . The convict will have to pay more than 11 thousand. pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage to the victims.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that in December last year, a man tried to kidnap 4 bottles of vodka from a store in Alytus, but was detained by security guards. In the same week, the Alytus resident committed 5 more robberies, during which bags containing items were stolen from the victims. One of the victims, a woman of respectable age, was seriously injured when the convict was struck in the head area. On Christmas morning, on the stairs of an apartment building, a man seized another bag with physical violence. At Christmas, the convict stole 800 euros from an acquaintance.

The condemned man confessed to all the crimes committed and said that he was motivated to commit the crimes by divorcing a friend, after which the man resumed drug use.

Jūratė Štreimikytė, a prosecutor in the Alytus District Prosecutor’s Office, led the investigation and supported the state prosecution in court.

The judgment can be appealed to the Kaunas Regional Court within twenty days from the date of its publication.
