And acting

Eglė has worked in television for about ten years, but led the way in journalism during his studies in Lithuanian philology and directing. The acting personality did a very good job: she acted in various movies, performances, and television series. Still, as she says herself, she was looking for another area to pursue. “After trying to work in television, I stayed there until now. Then I graduated with a master’s degree in communication.

There are many reasons why television is different. Starting with the details of the job, the news flow, the speed of the work, the atmosphere, the adrenaline, etc. In short, you come, try and know: it is your field or not ”, says E. Šantaraitė.

Although her TV experience is really solid, she joined LNK’s knowledge managers and works live in the kitchen just a year ago. E.Šantaraitė is a self-critical personality, but looking from the field she tries not to criticize herself. “I try to listen to what the directors, producers and directors of the show say. I evaluate both their comments and mine, separate the constructive criticism, find out what and why it failed and what I can do to improve it next time. And if the result is excellent, I learn to be happy and turn it into a motivation to work even better ”, shares the journalist.

Stage experience

According to her, the first year of LNK was spent about a month. “Even too fast … Maybe because I love my job, the calculation has been erased from the days of the week: Monday to Friday. If I have to work on weekends or holidays, I am not sad because I know there are a fun time ahead. I’m happy and grateful for that. ” – opens the interlocutor.

“Although the live air was new, the experience gained during our studies while taking the stage of the theater helps to cope with the bloody adrenaline, adjusting to the last seconds before the air, and there were spectators who obviously coughed, sneezed, whispered, long ago looking for something in her bags, she forgets to turn off the phones, ”she smiles.

“I already knew that the emotion in front of the camera would diminish when I was properly and well prepared for the show. This requires not only knowing the texts presented in the stories, taking an interest in what is happening in Lithuania and the world, but also preparing the body and thoughts properly. I do not plan, curiosities and mistakes are sometimes inevitable, that is why it is important to be able to improvise, to get out of all kinds of situations, because I am not only live, but more relaxed with a team I trust. and over the years I have learned a phrase from our director. There is no harm in not airing, “jokes Egle.

Love like children

E.Šantaraitė divides his work in the LNK knowledge service into two periods: before the quarantine and after the quarantine. Before that, he worked as a reporter and knowledge manager, during and after him, on the program “Good evening, Lithuania”.

“When comparing these two shows, I feel like I’m talking about children: I don’t know which one I love the most. Both shows are different and their own and unique. The format of the news show is more structured, precise, there is little improvisation, except in exceptional cases “. Good evening, Lithuania “More freedom and lightness. It’s like a light conversation after a day’s work about everything that was interesting and can be relevant that day. From space to boletus in the forest. Of course, we also briefly reviewed the most important events of the day, my colleague Paul – We prepare the programs together with the producers, they choose the main topics, we talk about what we will talk at the beginning of the program, we collect information, we prepare news that will be in the news section of the program, We discuss with the producers which specialists we can talk to or invite to the studio that day. We direct the show one week and prepare scenes for it the next week, “he says.

The journalist presents the program together with Paulius Skučs, and has been working on the air “Labas vakaras, Lietuva” since the beginning, so for almost a decade. “He has experience, ultra-fast thinking speed, great improvisation. And even though we both have the same show before the air, agreed with the producers and the director, he is able to update it, change it and bring it to what we need to talk about. three new ones, unknown to me. At first I was worried about it, then I got used to it, and now he’s even charming, interesting and waiting for what else will he come up with and how it will all end. I trust Paul in the air. and I called him Saúl “, the presenter smiles.

“And with colleagues working on the LNK news or on the” Good evening Lithuania “program, we have a common goal: the result of work. We are a strong team, which is connected with work attitude and responsibility. Here, as a team sport: strive for the best results, do everything possible, you know and use your strengths, you do not give up, you are not worthy and, of course, you help others or ask for help when you need it ”, – says E.Šantaraitė.

Dolphins, space and climate

It’s like a light conversation after a day of work about everything that was interesting that day and can be relevant. From space to boletus in the forest.

Television is a work full of surprises and dynamics, which most fascinates E. Šantaraitė.

“You never know how his day is going to turn out and if he’s talking to the president today or the disaster trapped in an outdoor bathroom. So this time we don’t hear the producer, just the director.” We just didn’t hear him because so-called ears didn’t work, “he says.

“So we keep talking about dolphins after bear. The director exclaimed, ‘What else is a dolphin?'” When the director exclaimed, “Weather forecast !!!”, Paul said, “Well yeah We are already talking about space, so let’s talk about the time ahead of us. ” There was no laughs, so such adventures, while live, cost a lot of stress for the entire team. they are the most memorable, usually they are not even visible to the viewer, and we admire each other.

Between the beach and the capital

A year ago, E.Šantaraitė and her family moved from Klaipėda to the capital. “I knew I would live in Vilnius because I was planning it and waiting for the right moment. When my daughter finished kindergarten, she came, and at the same time a job offer, which led to the final decision. I am happy and grateful for that. “, He says.

“Vilnius is a great city. After a good half a year, his daughter loved him too, although in the first few months she said,” You know, Mom, Klaipeda is like a pillow: soft, smooth, and Vilnius is a knife, sharp and painful. “Now making new friends and favorites She doesn’t want to go back to Klaipeda, so I miss the beach more, especially Giruliai and the secret roads that lead to the sea, but only one weekend a month or a couple of hours on the beach is enough, and I want to go back to Vilnius. We are not, on the contrary, for me – well, here where I am now “, – smiles E. Šantaraitė.

In their spare time, the family does what it wants, together or separately. “Leisure is freedom after all. During the workweek we have many responsibilities, routines, a mountain of rules without which there would be chaos. So we follow them, and the weekday weather is strictly stagnant. And the weekends are something else. I like not having plans. Although, of course, I always find something to do at home, I like to do it, that’s why I usually fix, put and clean something at home. “While living by the sea, I paddled, surfed, learned to control a windsurf.

Balance and stubbornness

E.Šantaraitė’s husband also works in the media, but she says she is unwilling to share professional advice.

“I try not to give advice to anyone about anything unless they really ask and see that it is worth it. I also do not ask for other advice, because I know that I will continue to do what is necessary. I will try to resolve my own issues and if I cannot, I will ask for help. for any door, because that door is simply not there. Why leave something somewhere, postpone it if you still have to go back and fix it? “- consider the interlocutor.

And is it possible to distance yourself from the flow of work and news by closing the office doors? “It says, ‘You lose your balance, you lose power.’ Balance is very important to me. I take care of myself and don’t charge enough to distance myself. Every day I find a free minute for myself. I am at home in silence, I walk in nature, I look and hear the roar of the river, the whisper of the leaves of the trees, the birds, I look at the clouds or the people. So I don’t think about anything, nor do I create movie scripts, book stories. I live in my parallel world and so I take a break from this. – laughs E.Šantaraitė.

The contagious energy journalist admits that she also has weaknesses. He exudes a tendency to plunge his head directly into something and see nothing else around him. “If I catch an idea, an idea or a concern, everything, I go out and start living with it until I solve it. But, there is strength in every weakness. So even in this case, I am a stubborn and stubborn man: I definitely do. I will do the maximum, to the greatest extent possible, at any cost, only without extremes, of course, “he opens.

In life, E.Šantaraitė says that he plans more than he dreams. “But anyway, I want people to see the bag of gold that they are sitting on as soon as possible, but when they look around or at others, they do not see it in any way,” he hopes to have a more positive look.
