There are up to two errors in Lauvergne’s test history.
The leader of “Žalgiris” found out about the positive COVID-19 test on Thursday, on the way to the Kaunas – Moscow plane.
As initially reported by Žalgiris, J. Lauvergne had been tested for COVID-19 before and after the Euroleague first round match in Piraeus; both were negative. The tallest tested again on Wednesday; the tests again showed a negative result.
But when J. Lauvergne was already loading suitcases to Russia on Thursday, “Žalgiris” received a revised report that an error in the legionnaire’s test had occurred and it was still positive.
15 minutes knowledge, however, these reviewed results may have been in error. Already after the infection was reported and the player was isolated, Lauvergne was retested for COVID-19 on Friday, which came back negative.
According to sources, on Saturday J. Lauvergne will undergo a final test to make sure there was no error in the results of the previous investigation and that the foreigner had COVID-19 at all.
By the way, the basketball player himself shared a record on Friday that he was well.
“I don’t feel any symptoms,” wrote a Žalgiris resident on Twitter.
By the way, after hearing the case of J. Lauvergne, just before the trip to Moscow on Thursday, all the people of Žalgiris were checked. They all tested negative for COVID-19.
The basketball player stayed in Lithuania and isolated from the team. “Žalgiris” went into battle with “Chimki” without the most productive and useful player.
A similar mistake was made in the test by Vilnius Knights footballer Dominykas Barauskas. On Monday, the defender was separated from the Lithuanian soccer team and had to isolate himself due to the positive result of COVID-19. But after repeating the test on Tuesday, the virus was no longer detected in the body. The blood test finally showed that D. Barauskas was neither ill nor had COVID-19.
Interestingly, despite the results of the latest tests, according to the order of the Ministry of Health (SAM) and the instructions of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), the players and the staff of the Gentlemen’s Club had to remain in self-isolation. The club and the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) are awaiting scientific clarification from the laboratory and, after receiving it, the corresponding NVSC permits to return to a normal rhythm of life.
If the test is negative on Saturday so that J. Lauvergne can return to the lineup earlier, Žalgiris will have to apply to the NVSC.
The coronavirus again disturbed the situation in Žalgiris in Russia. Žalgiriai’s match in Mytiščiai was postponed from Friday to Saturday (8pm). After two positive tests for COVID-19 were found at the Chimki camp on Friday, Greg Monroe and Maxim Barashkov became ill, and the organizers decided to postpone the meeting before the Chimki team could be tested again.
Due to the test results of J. Lauvergne, the Žalgiris and Nevėžis-Optibet matches, which were to be played on Sunday in Kėdainiai, were postponed. By the way, due to the French COVID-19 case, the entire Pasvalys Milk Stars team had to check it out. In response to the schedule changes, LKL postponed the match between Utena Juventus and Alytus Dzūkija from Saturday to Sunday.
J. Lauvergne was the first LKL basketball player to be assigned COVID-19.
