“This is the first worldwide confirmation of the genetic transformation of wheat that leads to tolerance to drought,” said the statement from the National Commission for Science and Technology (CONICET).
“To be commercialized in Argentina, this genetic transformation of wheat must be approved by Brazil, historically the main market for Argentine wheat,” said CONICET.

The HB4 drought resistant wheat was developed by the Argentine biotechnology company Bioceres together with the National University and CONICET.
