Before the trip to Russia, Žalgiris head coach Martin Schiller revealed what stood out in training after the victories against Piraeus Olympiakos and Pasvalys Milk Stars.

“He is one of the most talented attacking basketball players on this continent and the most important thing to stop him is, in my opinion, not letting him be with the ball as much as possible. “It’s another thing to find the right defenders for him so that the Swede can’t freely throw the ball,” Schiller explained.
The coach again stressed that he did not highlight the exclusive intensity of this match, since it is not clear what the opponents of the match line up.
“We have to show intensity and physicality in each game. But then again, we don’t know who will play them and their rotation can change very quickly, so we don’t particularly emphasize their low bench, “Schiller said.
And who is the most important person in Chimki if neither Monroe nor Swede will play on Friday?
“I think Jonas Jerebko, because in addition to Monroe, he also plays at number five, where he looks great and takes on more responsibilities when other Chimki players can’t compete,” Schiller said.
Despite health problems early in the season, according to Schiller, Chimki is showing extremely fast play.
“It is an incredibly dynamic team, especially with examples in Europe. We have to control the events in defense, especially Chimki’s transition from his basket to attack,” said the starter of “Žalgiris” coach.
For the first time in his career, Schiller will face the team led by Rimas Kurtinaitis. Before this confrontation, the Austrians did not spare beautiful words for the Lithuanian.
“He is a great coach, especially respected in Lithuania. Kurtinaitis is very creative, he learns to take advantage of the strengths of the students and he loves to give them freedom in the square,” Schiller praised his future opponent.
The “Žalgiris” coach revealed that Marekas Blaževičius and Patricio Garino will not go to Russia with the team.
After the Argentine debut, his situation with the road deteriorated slightly.
“We like Garino’s progress, he played the first game, but he needs to regain confidence. After the first game, his situation with the road worsened a little, so we will have to keep an eye on him in the near future, ”said Schiller about the Argentine.
