Cyprus made a decision on October 9. to add Lithuania to the list of affected countries for which a person must provide proof of a negative result of a coronavirus test. The test must be done in a certified laboratory no earlier than 72 hours before the flight, SAM advises.

There are also restrictions in neighboring Latvia. From October 12. All travelers crossing the border into Latvia must fill out an electronic form and save the QR code. The questionnaire must be completed no earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border with Latvia. In the questionnaire, the person must indicate their name, surname, personal identification code, contact telephone number and real residence address, as well as the countries and dates of departure that the person has visited during the last 14 days before their arrival in Latvia. The questionnaire must be completed separately for each adult, and for parents, parents or legal guardians must complete the questionnaire.

Lithuania has had additional restrictions or requirements when crossing the borders of other EU countries in the past. Finland, for example, responded to the increased incidence of coronavirus infection in Lithuania on October 18. it renewed internal border controls and started restricting the entry of other EU countries, including Lithuania. Now only foreigners who legally reside, work, study or travel for family reasons, such as weddings, funerals, etc., can enter the country. At the border checkpoint, Finnish officials request proof of the purpose of the trip.

Some EU countries assess not only the morbidity rates of a country as a whole, but only the morbidity of a particular region. For example, the German Ministry of Health has included the Šiauliai region in the list of sites affected by the coronavirus; those arriving from this region are subject to the isolation requirement. Other regions of Lithuania are not included in the list of risk areas in Germany, and isolation and other virus management measures are not applied on arrival.
