“My father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, lost his long and difficult battle with cancer this morning,” Wolf Van Halen wrote on Twitter. “He was the best father I could have ever wanted … I love you very much, Dad.”
Rocker was 65 years old.
Born in the Netherlands and raised in California, E. Van Halen co-founded a rock band with his older brother Alex in the 1980s, which quickly gained a following.
Regarded as one of the most influential American rock bands of all time, Van Halen is famous for rock classics like Jump, Panama, Runnin ‘with the Devil, and the lead guitar track Eruption.
The group has sold more than 75 million. copies of the album.
Van Halen’s 1984 album, whose song “Jump,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart by American magazine Billboard.
The band also has more top-ranked songs on Billboard’s rock chart, Mainstream Rock, than all other artists.

During his 1984 tour, Van Hall met with the band’s soloist, David Lee Roth, who left the band in April 1985.
One of the reasons for his dissatisfaction was E. Van Halen’s strange work, as well as Michael Jackson’s 1983 single “Beat It.”
However, E. Van Halen announced his 2007 tour with DL Roth after a 22-year hiatus.
Other tours planned for 2012 were canceled because Van Vanen urgently needed surgery.
In 2015, the band reunited for a major tour in North America.
Mr. Van Halen had had health problems that hampered his work for many years.
In 1999 he underwent hip surgery and in 2000, after being diagnosed with lung cancer, part of his tongue was removed. The guitarist smoked a lot.
Drugs and alcohol contributed to his divorce in 2007 from television actress Valerie Bertinelli. The marriage lasted 16 years.
“He was an alcoholic, he needed alcohol to function,” he told Billboard in 2015.
“It just came to our attention then. Alcohol and cocaine were private things to me. I used them for work,” he said.
Van Halen’s death left his second wife, Janie Liszewski, and a son.
