Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga affirms that the recommendations of the National Public Health Center (NVSC) on quarantine or the implementation of some conditions in the district have been sent to the District Municipality of Raseiniai, which is fighting the coronavirus outbreaks .
These issues will be discussed at a meeting of the municipal Emergency Commission on Tuesday.
“Yesterday, NVSC recommendations were sent to the municipality of Raseiniai with suggestions on a possible quarantine or determination of its conditions. (…) We are awaiting the decisions and opinions of the municipality on these recommendations. We have seen that mayors have already communicated in the public sphere with a skeptical approach to the quarantine, but we will wait for an official response, we will wait for what the commission decides, “said A. Veryga at a press conference on Tuesday.
The Minister thanked the volunteer doctors who agreed to come to work at the Blinstrubiškės welfare home, where there is a shortage of doctors due to the COVID-19 chimney.
“Part of the nursing staff has already been found. There was a problem with the doctors, I want to thank the doctors who volunteered to travel to this facility. We hope that the municipality provides all the necessary working conditions, remuneration and accommodation and that the doctors can contribute to the solution of this situation ”, said A. Veryga.
Although the mayor of Raseiniai, Andrius Bautronis, was skeptical about the introduction of a quarantine regime in the district, A. Veryga said that the opinion of the specialists would be heard before making a final decision.
“There is communication with the municipality, with the mayor. According to the mayor, they have practically all the recommendations that are provided, in his opinion, they are current and do not require additional quarantine. But again, this is the mayor’s evaluation. I understand that it is preliminary , until the commission decides, because I think more specialists will speak there and then a decision will be made, ”said A. Veryga.
