The businessman from Raseiniai Romualdas sits in one of his 4 buses, but says that now he goes out to the street much less frequently, because not only his business, but the whole city due to the coronavirus is stagnant.

“The buses do not operate a business and do not generate income, which is frustrating in one way or another. Now let’s take a look at our equipment, repairs also require costs, we cannot invest much here, we do not know the future, but the future It will be better. We are not going very far, we are going to Germany, France, we are going to the soclager and here it is enough for us “, says Romualdas Dubinskas, the owner of Romirbus.

Reservations increased in the summer, and Romuald traveled more frequently with local communities. However, the coronavirus, which hit the district with all its might in the fall, is preventing the man’s business from entering.

“In June, July, August, September we drove so well in comparison, because the communities received funding and drafted projects.”

It’s not just Romuald’s business that is going through the toughest times. Employees of cafes, restaurants and canteens operating in Raseiniai are open: In recent weeks, the flow of customers in the city, where virus outbreaks are ablaze, has been cut in half in some places.

“It just came to our knowledge then. In total, there are very few people in the city, many institutions do not work, the number of people in the city has decreased, Raseiniai is empty,” says Danutė Gilienė, production manager of the canteen.

In Raseiniai, the number of new coronavirus cases is slightly decreasing. If on the worst days the district counted 40 new cases of COVID-19 per day. Last weekend, there were twice as many infections, but neither Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga nor public health specialists are happy to get burned.

“The most difficult situation continues to be in the municipality of Raseiniai,” says A. Veryga.

A. Veryga together with public health specialists reiterates that the real morbidity in the Raseiniai district is unknown, because people do not go for preventive tests, although they have every opportunity to do so, people do not believe in the threat of the virus.

“Even though the population is allowed to do the test, it is still very slow and we hear news so really disturbing that the population is reluctant to believe in the virus, they do not understand the seriousness of the situation,” said A. Veryga.

In the Raseiniai district, more than 30 thousand inhabitants, but only a little more than 1,500 visited this point.

“If I don’t feel anything, I’m fine, then what am I there for? If I felt it, so be it. But if you don’t feel like it, you need to check it unnecessarily. “

“It just came to our attention then. Bijo. Maybe find him, then go to the hospital or isolate himself.”

“I am afraid to find out that he is sick.”

“People don’t think until something happens to them, they don’t do anything.”

“I drink beer, I don’t try to communicate. We don’t need friends.”

“Looking at the occupation of the mobile point today, we saw that almost half of the time was free, in the next few days 20.30 people were registered in the morning, with about 240 more places,” says Rolanda, spokesperson for the National Center for Public Health. Lingienė.

All you need to do for the residents of the Raseiniai district is call the coronavirus hotline and register, but this task seems too difficult.

“Everything possible is being done, but people’s consciences are far from what we expected. And we want and hope, and that moment of responsibility, that nihilism is quite widespread, ”says Violeta Užringienė, director of the Raseiniai Primary Health Care Center.

“We can’t really say that Raseiniškės is active. By various theories. Some read it here in a very similar way to the flu epidemic. Especially those who do not feel sick do not have signs or scales that they will be unnecessarily limited,” says Edmundas Jonyla , director of the municipal administration.

Representatives of the municipality of Raseiniai claim that to investigate the entire city, the residents of the district, the mission is not implemented.

“It just came to our knowledge then. More so because we are a rural area. In some suburbs, people have poor communication, they go to the store there, buy food and children can come sometimes. We definitely will not be able to achieve this,” he said E. Jonyla.

The Health Minister explains that on Wednesday the government will try to take the situation into its own hands. Not in all of Lithuania, but in the largest chimneys: in Raseiniai, Radviliškis, new rules can come into force, restrictions are being returned.

“We can really see some of the measures that were announced in Lithuania during the quarantine. Today I could not detail what measures will be proposed. They will be discussed with the municipalities themselves,” says A. Veryga.

According to A. Veryga, several scenarios are possible in Raseiniai, Radviliškis. The opening hours of bars, cafes and restaurants are very likely to be short, but there may be more restrictions.

Veryga does not rule out any of the rules applied during the quarantine. This means that the activities of medical institutions and other institutions that provide services may be limited and the opening hours of stores may be reduced.
