This year was exceptional: the teachers of the Kaunas district, as well as the whole country, had to take care not only of the quality and conditions of education. The pandemic brought unexpected challenges. There was an urgent need to organize distance learning in the spring, to create the conditions for students and teachers who miss live communication to return to schools safely on September 1. The pandemic also eroded the traditional celebration of teachers. However, they are welcomed according to the security requirements, at the institution where they work.
Teacher of the Year – R.Čepulienė
The most important – the title of Teacher of the year – for the leadership in the implementation of projects of socialization and intercultural integration of students this year went to Rima Čepuliene, English teacher at Garliava Jonučiai Progymnasium.
She has worked as an English teacher at Garliava Jonučiai school (gymnasium and progymnasium) for 27 years. “I am loyal to the Kaunas district and have worked here for a total of 37 years. After graduating from the then Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute, I started my career at the eight-year Girininkai school. Which I chose Jonučiai and I will not be wrong to say that this educational institution is my second home Jonučiai is Jonučiai, this school has its own spirit Here are wonderful colleagues, a great administration that always moved forward, asked for professional development, encouraged every step of the way I have been lucky in my life to work here ”, the Teacher of the Year spared no kind words to managers and colleagues.

This year’s Teacher of the Year students are regular winners of the Olympics and competitions. In preparing students for the maturity exams, the methodologist’s students were assessed with the highest scores each year. 2018 she raised five centurions, in 2019 – three, and this year – one.
“Now this page on Jonučiai is already closed, this educational institution is no longer a gym, but it is still a project activity, it has always been the most important thing for me. I have worked a lot with Erasmus projects. For a beginner, the activities of The project is very challenging. It opens opportunities to travel, see the world, improve the English language. This is a great advantage for the motivation of the students and my self-esteem “, says R.Čepulienė.
This teacher-methodologist is the initiator and organizer of regular trips to Germany to participate in a program of joint activities prepared by the German school Friedrich Frobel within the framework of the UNESCO project. It seeks to create optimal learning conditions for the education of students, good interpersonal relationships based on democratic principles, respect, mutual tolerance, and trust. R.Čepulienė has been repeatedly praised by Garliava Jonučiai Gymnasium and Progymnasium for active project activities and sincere and responsible work.
The Kaunas District Teacher of the Year wished her and her colleagues endurance. “This year is a challenging year. If we get through this period smoothly, nothing will be terrible in the future. I wish health; it is always a meaningful wish, especially for those over 50, and most of the teachers in the Kaunas. I wish good students and happier even with their small victories, “said R. Čepulienė.

Three pedagogues received plaques: Žydrūnė Jankūnienė, director of the Raudondvaris “Vyturėlis” kindergarten, for the successful modernization of institutional settings and community meetings, Danguolė Marmienė, director of Neveroniai gymnasium, director of leadership in communication and cooperation, and managerial work and pedagogical with purpose.
On the occasion of the professional celebration of seventeen other teachers, letters of appreciation were presented from the mayor of the Kaunas district on various merits.
