As the prime minister wrote on Facebook, certain steps need to be taken.
“This week, we are seeing a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in several municipalities.” We just agreed on COVID-19 that on Wednesday the government will consider decisive measures to prevent the virus where necessary, “he wrote.
The Ministry of Health is responsible for drafting amendments to the legislation.
“We have instructed the Ministry of Health to urgently prepare the draft amendments pertinent to the legal acts. As we agreed in the COVID-19 management strategy, we will introduce the necessary restrictions only in the individual municipalities with the most threatening situation, and not across the country, ”wrote S. Skvernelis.
Prime Minister S. Skvernelis wrote that the working hours of restaurants and entertainment venues should not be reduced in those municipalities where the situation is not a cause for concern.
“At the moment, I will not specify what measures will be applied, they will be appointed by specialists. However, I would like to anticipate that the opening hours of restaurants and entertainment venues should not be reduced in those municipalities where the COVID-19 situation is not cause for concern. I also want to say that we will solve problems in specific areas in close cooperation with the local government, “he wrote.
The Prime Minister stated that the record number of infections in Lithuania leaves no room for doubt and clearly states “that we must act quickly and decisively to preserve the health and lives of the residents of the municipalities that have become hotbeds.”
S. Skvernelis assured that in those municipalities of the country where the situation is handled, life will flow in the usual way.
“I want to emphasize that the restrictions on physical contact will only apply until we see the virus recede. And in those Lithuanian municipalities where the number of infections is not a concern, life will flow as usual, ”wrote Prime Minister S. Skvernelis on Facebook on Monday.
