“Our coronavirus worker has been isolating herself at home for two weeks because COVID-19 is a member of her family. She had no symptoms, so she was tested for COVID-19 on September 30 and diagnosed. on October 3. We remain in contact with the employee. We have not received any news from other employees of the same Maxima XXX store in the last two weeks that someone is experiencing specific symptoms of COVID-19. We are consulting with the National Center Department of Public Health and we will take the recommended actions if necessary, ”said Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The premises of the Šiauliai Akropolis Maxima store, where an employee infected with COVID-19 worked, were also fully cleaned and disinfected. “There are stricter hygiene requirements in our stores: trolleys and baskets and various other surfaces are periodically disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance, ”says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizing liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or flu, they are asked to stay home.

“As the number of COVID-19 cases in the country increases, we understand that the coronavirus can affect everyone. We believe that the preventive protection measures we have taken will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it is equally important that each of us feel responsible not only for our own safety, but also for the safety of those around us. Therefore, we invite our customers to be vigilant: keep a safe distance in stores, do not forget to wear protective masks , sanitize hands and wear free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance, ”says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of Maxima.

A total of 21 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 16 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 712 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently 26 employees are still waiting for a test response, 22 of them are registered for prevention purposes, when Lithuanian municipalities organize preventive examinations.
