NVSC representative R. Lingienė, when asked why people began to avoid revealing their routes and contacts to epidemiologists, cited several possible reasons.
“It is very difficult to say why he avoids revealing it. I had to speak to many employees of various companies during remote meetings. One version is that he wants to go to work because he is afraid of losing his job or being worried about his employer, ”says R. Lingienė.
She mentions that managers of large companies in the Raseiniai district can prohibit the examination of employees with mild symptoms.
“Yesterday we had to talk about the situation in the Raseiniai district, where there are several large companies. However, his managers cannot say if this is true in the case of mild symptoms, which prohibits employees from testing or does not recommend testing so as not to interrupt production or the work process. This may be one of the reasons, ”says R. Lingienė.
The NVSC also consulted with the State Labor Inspectorate about this behavior by employers.
“They assure us that, in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Law, the employer is responsible for healthy and safe working conditions for all employees. And as for one of them may be infected with COVID-19, in addition to this law, the Communicable Diseases and Control Law can be applied, which establishes not only administrative but also criminal responsibility if the facts are clarified, ”he says.
“There is no need to reject the law, but if that is the case, we ask employers to realize that it would be much worse if the infection spreads in the company because one or another employee was not released or offered to be examined, “said an NVSC spokeswoman.
He also claims to hear speeches in public in which young people underestimate the potential risks and complications, so this may be one of the reasons they avoid revealing their routes.
“It is no secret that in recent months, most people are ill, their symptoms are mild or non-existent. Fortunately, they have not had severe cases in the environment and they think that this virus is like the flu that comes easy, easy and passes. There may be such reasons, ”says R. Lingienė.
