Self-isolation of Covid-19 patients in Radviliškis: walking around the city, visiting friends

According to police officers, on September 28, at approximately 1 p.m., in a parking lot on Maironis Street in Radviliškis, residents noticed a 40-year-old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 16 and must adhere to self-isolation.

According to police officers, the sick Radviliškis was walking around the city not alone, but with his mother.

Officials have launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident for violating rules for fighting epidemics or communicable diseases.

Radviliškis brought a coronavirus as a gift to his friend

According to police spokeswoman Gaila Smagriūnienė, on September 24, before noon, officers from the Radviliškis District Police Station, together with officers from the Radviliškis District Municipality Public Order Department, examined the patients with COVID-19 who had been assigned self-isolation.

Arriving at A. Povyliaus st. living in the house of a 24-year-old boy and calling him on the phone, the boy did not respond. Then he went to his apartment. As it turned out, the door was opened by the patient’s mother. The woman explained that her son was not at home, he went to Šiauliai early in the morning to visit his friend. Officials again tried to reach the guy by phone, but he did not respond.

There is a risk of imprisonment for up to one year.

The guy knew he had COVID-19. Doctors had also warned Radviliškis about the fact that he was forced to isolate himself. In such cases, failure to self-isolate is treated as a conscious human step to infect others with a dangerous disease.

According to police spokesperson G. Smagriūnienė, a pre-trial investigation is being launched for someone who has been informed about his illness and warned about the protective measures to follow when communicating with people, but nevertheless presents a risk that others people contract a dangerous contagious disease. The Penal Code provides for a fine or restriction of freedom, or arrest or imprisonment of up to one year for this.

A sick Radviliškis collapsed through the city

On September 23, residents of Radviliškis were alarmed by the irresponsible behavior of a 28-year-old resident of Jaramino Street.

The COVID-19 patient was observed walking through the center of Radviliškis. After checking the database of the National Center for Public Health, the last name of the specified woman was definitely found among the sick.

After contacting Radviliškis by phone, officials learned that she had gone to the polyclinic, but no one accepted her and she is currently at home. The woman was explained the consequences of not complying with the quarantine and was recommended to call the short number for the treatment of COVID-19.

Since Radviliškis failed to observe mandatory self-isolation, he left his place of residence, walked around town, visited public places, interacted with people, put other people at risk of contracting a dangerous contagious disease, and a pre-trial investigation was launched.
