This year, A. Kriščiūnas donated the most expensive work “Treat me like a flower” to the charity auction. “If you see a flower in me, take care of me and love me, then one day I will bless you with a beautiful flower. And if you find a flower in yourself, the miracle of the ring will accompany you for life”, described the artist in a press release .

This painting will be one of 23 works of art and other valuable prizes set by Lithuanian artists in the charity auction, which will take place on the online platform on October 1. The funds received during the charity auction will be used to support the activities of the Youth Line.

The artist and photographer Algis Kriščiūnas can be boldly called one of the best friends of the non-governmental organization Jaunimo linija. The artist has repeatedly said that he sees great meaning in the work of an organization that provides free and anonymous emotional support via phone, online chats and emails.

“I saw them bang their heads against the wall. They were walls that could not be overcome: the walls of cold indifference, the world too complicated, loneliness and uncertainty locked them in prisons, where no one seems to hear you, screaming in vain in the pillow, tearing long pages of the blog with tears of despair. If there is no person alive to listen to you, then everything becomes excruciatingly difficult. And an open window on the twelfth floor seems to be the only way out. I know this because I have experienced it myself. Maybe that’s why I really understand that a person needs help. We need a heart that can listen, understand, advise, even if it is an invisible and completely unknown voice on the other end of the phone ”, writes A. Kriščiūnas on his Facebook account.

He expresses his support for the Youth Line in very significant thematic works.

The friendship with Jaunimo linija has lasted for many years.

The work “I made this lake with joy and sadness” donated by the artist Algis Kriščiūnas last year led the Youth Line to organize an evening of solidarity.

The painting, which became the face of the auction last year, sold for 3,100 euros and became the most expensive piece of art sold during the charity evening.

The artist has been contributing to the activities of the Youth Line organization for many years. He created a meaningful drawing for the Conversations from the Heart campaign: Two people on different sides of the river are running paper boats. As the author of the work himself explained, the most important message of the image, the need to speak.

This year, on his birthday, the artist himself held an auction in which a painting entitled “Why we no longer speak” was sold, which portrays very well the essence of the Youth Line, since the 29-year-old organization encourages conversation.

“I cannot do much, I am an ordinary person, not a president or a millionaire. But if I can contribute at least a little bit to a better world, I try to do it, ”Algis said, sharing an image of the image on his account.

Conversations from the heart – all day

The coronavirus will not prevent the second Youth Line charity auction from taking place, but in a slightly different space than last year. For the safety of the participants, a charity celebration has been canceled and the artists’ works will be available for purchase in a virtual space.

Up to 23 Lithuanian artists and famous people have agreed to contribute to the noble mission of the Youth Line and have already donated their works of art and other values: Rūta Katiliūtė, Andrius Zakarauskas, Vytautė Jankūnaitė, Vladas Mackevičius, Kristina Ališauskaitė, Gintaras Makarevišauskait, Gintaras Makarevišauskait Jčiliskius, Viktorurgija Natalija Martinavičienė, Gabrielius Mackevičius, Gustas Jagminas, Erika Petunovienė, Gintaras Makarevičius, Vytautė Jankūnaitė, Artūras Braziūnas, Aleksandras Nazimovas, Adomas Danusevičius.

The tradition of winning a presidential auction and books continues with a donated book on President Valdas Adamkus with his autograph. Also available at auction this year will be the movie “Lithuania and the Collapse of the Soviet Union” by legendary filmmaker Jonas Mekas, with his autograph on DVD.

As in previous years, familiar and familiar faces joined the heart support initiative conversations. It will be possible to buy the work “Lamp” by the musician Saulius Urbonavičius-Sam, works by the famous photographers Marius Jovaiša and Dainius Ščiuka, a necktie created by the designer Seržas Gandžiumianas, French porcelain from the collection of the designer Vidmantė Martikonytė.

Jaunimo linija is one of the largest, most progressive and transparent non-governmental organizations in Lithuania, with branches in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and a branch in Skuodas. More than 300 volunteers from all over Lithuania contribute 24-hour emotional support by phone, email and online chats so that no one is left alone with their pain.

Last year alone, Jaunimo linija volunteers answered 48,841 calls, made 2,858 calls online, and responded to 1,022 letters. However, due to a lack of volunteers, only 70% can be answered. of all callings.
