“We are sorry that our staff has detected the coronavirus. She is currently at home, isolated. Another employee at the same Maxima store is also isolating herself because a high-risk exposure was identified to a colleague infected with COVID-19.

We do not know that other workers experience specific symptoms of COVID-19. Some Radviliškis employees will undergo prophylactic tests. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health, which is currently conducting an epidemiological study, and we will take additional recommended actions if necessary, ”said Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The employee assigned COVID-19 was at work for the last time on Friday, September 25. A Maxima employee who was infected with coronavirus had no close contact with customers.

The premises of the store where the employee infected with COVID-19 worked have been disinfected, so according to E. Dapkienė, the employees and customers of this Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit this store. Carts and baskets and various other surfaces are also regularly disinfected in accordance with the most stringent hygiene requirements for handling COVID-19. “Employees are presented with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact with each other and to maintain a safe distance. During work, protective masks and rubber gloves are used, which are changed regularly, ”says E. Dapkienė.

Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

According to E. Dapkienė, as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country increases, the coronavirus can affect everyone, so it is important that safety requirements are met. “We believe that the preventive protection measures we have taken will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it is no less important that each of us feel responsible not only for our own safety, but also for the safety of those around us. Therefore, we ask our customers to be vigilant, not to forget to wear protective masks, disinfect their hands and wear disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance ”, emphasizes E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees.

A total of 20 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 16 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 633 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently, 10 employees are still waiting for a test response, 4 of them are registered for prevention purposes, when Lithuanian municipalities organize preventive examinations.
