Baking bread is a must

A. Kisielienė, manager of the Radviliškė village bakery, calmly introduces his business to the weekly “T” vynė “without pomp, which is quite famous and well-known in Lithuania and even abroad.

“Our job is to bake bread. This is our family business. Both my husband Albinas and a son, Vidmantas, revolve around this. Although the village of Radviliškės has long since ceased to exist, to keep its name, we named the bakery like this village. We want to preserve the memory of the homeland, “said A. Kisielienė, the owner of the bakery in the Panevėžys district.

Will not rise from town to city

Radviliškės village bakery was founded by Audronė and Albinas Kisieliai in 1996.

“I remember well when we woke up and when I said before moving that I would never move to a town outside the city. Now everything has changed, it has become different. I say that I will never move to a city in this town where a family business is established. When the husband’s mother died, an abandoned farm was left, which was very unfortunate. The man in particular felt the attraction for his land, his homeland. After all, here is the land of your parents, your ancestors and now ours too, ”explained A. Kisielien of the well-kept house, showing the orderly environment.

Present the path of bread

According to Audronė, even the pillar of the chapel was built, and it is dedicated to the memory of the people of Radviliškis and the Kisieliai family.

“There are more pillars than the chapel, because educational programs for children are held in the Radviliškės village bakery. In the lessons, we introduce, explain, and show where bread comes from. For this reason, in the territory of the farmhouse, wooden pillars of the chapel were built, presenting the path of bread. The author of the columns in the chapel is Eduardas Titas, a wood sculptor from Mieži. Children should explain and talk about how respectfully baked the bread is and how hard the farmer’s job is, ”says A. Kisielienė.

I have a recipe from grandma

When asked what kind of bread he started baking when he started, A. Kisielienė gladly explained:

“We started with two types of bread and the recipes were taken from the ancients. We bake the first symbolic bread according to the yeast recipe given to us by the experienced baker Petronėlė Kurulienė, who lives in the village of Nibragalis. She was born in 1924 and has already traveled to Anapilin. We bake bread, which we call Petronėlė bread. I am very proud that this woman entrusted us with a homemade bread recipe and now we are baking according to her. So the recipe has survived and Petronėlė bread reaches home bread lovers. “

Baking is not just about bread

More than 20 types of bread are baked in the Radviliškė village bakery alone.

“We bake not only bread, but also cakes, twigs, centipedes, cookies, mushrooms. Radviliškės bakery bread can be bought all over Lithuania at the stalls of the Maxima chain stores “Linkėjų iš kaimo”. We work in a stable way. There were some interruptions when the pandemic started, but after all, bread is always necessary. Only educational programs have suffered, but little by little they are coming back; it is interesting that the children learn to bake bread, ”said A. Kisielienė sincerely.

Will participate in the exhibition

A.Kisielienė was happy to participate in the EXPO Aukštaitija 2020 exhibition.

“I don’t even count how many times we have already participated in exhibitions. I like to participate in the EXPO Aukštaitija exhibitions. We will be there again this time. We will bring several of our products so that the mountaineers do not forget the taste of bread, centipedes, branches”, A Kisielienė, the owner of the Radviliškės village bakery, invited the residents of Panevėžys to the exhibition.

Yields are poorer

Milda Mikelionienė, a farmer from the Upytė elderhood, who grows various vegetables and cereals in an area of 75 hectares, admitted to the weekly Tėvynė that this year’s harvest is worse than that of 2019.

“Lower yields have been affected by the drought, but there is enough work to harvest even lower yields. We grow various types of cabbage: Beijing, kale, broccoli, cauliflower. We have onions, potatoes and even grains. We grow vegetables in an area of 65 ha, and the rest, cereals. I could not say which cabbages are more popular. Buyers choose what they like. Only conservative people do not eat exotic cabbage, they tend to the usual, “said the farmer and explained by what grow different types of cabbage, are in demand.

Empty niches must be filled

A farmer who grows various types of cabbage has welcomed the growing popularity of broccoli.

“Broccoli is becoming increasingly popular. Therefore, they are worth cultivating. Although Lithuanians are conservative, they no longer just liked common cabbage. A wider variety of vegetables is especially popular with residents of large cities. Therefore, we are happy to offer you broccoli, cauliflower and Chinese cabbage grown in Lithuanian fields. If there is a niche, you must fill it. That’s what we do, “says Mikelionienė.

The farm is a family business

A farmer from Upytė has no problem with where to deliver the harvested crop in the fields.

“Iki, the logistics center for Palink retail chains, is very close. Our main products travel there; we have a contract with them. It is very convenient and there is no need to look for other places to deliver the products. And we do not deliver to the markets. Time is precious because I am responsible for a huge farm, ”explained M. Mikelionienė and said that he has been farming for about 30 years.

According to M. Mikelionienė, agriculture is a family business.

“There will be someone who will take care of the farm, because the son is preparing for it. Plans to study agronomy. Also, the daughter helps. That’s why I say it’s a family business,” said the farmer from Upytė.

District in a convenient location

The mayor of the Panevėžys district, Povilas Žagunis, stated that there are many business representatives in the district.

“These are also larger companies that are located near the city of Panevėžys. But there are also them in other cities of the Panevėžys district: Raguva, Ramygala, Bernatonys. Although everyone thinks that the Panevėžys district is just an agricultural region, there are companies that make the district famous. They are Dominari, Auresa and a wood processing company. We have a lot and we are proud of it, ”said the district mayor.

According to the mayor, good business conditions have been created in the Panevėžys district.

“We are geographically convenient. Also, the road infrastructure is not bad. It is necessary to mention one more factor: we must think about the European route “Rail Baltica”. The companies will have to take advantage of this opportunity “, said P. Žagunis and informed that for this year an award ceremony is also planned for the entrepreneurs of the district.

Approach is appropriate

Sigitas Gailiūnas, President of the Panevėžys Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts (PPAR), was proud of the business opportunities in the Panevėžys district.

“There are a number of companies that operate in the area. They are diverse and successfully work and export products. We are pleased to cooperate with the Panevėžys district municipality. His approach to district business is appropriate. By the way, they honor entrepreneurs every year. I think there will also be an honor this year, ”said S. Gailiūnas, praising A. Kisielienė’s company – Radviliškės village bakery.

It does not matter the location of the company

According to the president of Panevėžys PPAR, it does not matter where the company operates in or near the city.

“The examples speak for themselves. Only after calculating how many large companies operate in the Panevėžys district. Employees may be more difficult to find, but as the examples show, no company is left without them. Employees are brought to companies. Distance is not the deciding factor. After all, the most important thing is attractive working conditions, a good salary and job satisfaction. Also, Lithuania is not such a big country that it is not possible to get a job, although it is not where you live, ”said S. Gailiūnas.
