According to Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius department of the NVSC, although the situation is under control, the number of cases detected during the day is on the rise, with family celebrations, gatherings and fireplaces lit during free time, which are also transferred to the work places.

“We see clear, real-life examples of people engaging in a variety of after-work activities, like dancing, singing, and more, where a lot of people they don’t normally interact with get together every day. Well, it all ends with dozens of countable infections, their spread to the workplace. For this reason, we strongly recommend that employers, if possible, allow employees to work remotely. This approach and all of our efforts are necessary to control the spread of COVID-19. The efforts of doctors and public health specialists will certainly not be enough to overcome the pandemic, ”says R. Lingienė.

He also emphasized that employers should also apply a so-called “stay home if unhealthy” policy. This is to ensure that workers experiencing at least the slightest symptoms of a coronavirus infection have the opportunity not to come to work, to stay home.
