“Some patients consulted with family doctors and received treatment at home, others, received consultations from specialist doctors and continued treatment at home, on an outpatient basis. The third was monitored and treated in the emergency departments, and others were treated at the hospital, ”commented Vantas representative Rimantas Zagrabajev.
The help of a family doctor was not paid extra
It is emphasized that there was no separate payment for patients who were treated with the help of GPs.
“The Health Insurance Funds pay medical institutions for the work of family doctors with funds from the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, taking into account the number of residents who have enrolled in a medical institution,” reported the VLK representative.
Statistics show that the average price of medical consultations is around € 21.
The average amount paid by health insurance funds was 70 euros for a patient who attended or was monitored in the hospital emergency room.

According to VLK, the average cost of active treatment for a person treated for hospital Covid-19 disease was 1,960 euros.
This cost is different for each treatment and depends on the duration of treatment, comorbidities, and the treatment method used.
Most payments were made for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (a treatment method used in particularly critically ill patients who do not benefit from oxygen therapy or artificial lung ventilation).
The most expensive case was 130,000 euros.
The total cost is more than a million
Treatment of COVID-19 patients has already cost Lithuania around 1.25 million. euros.
In addition, additional payments were made from the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund to increase medical allowances and salaries: LTL 24.5 million. 60,200 million euros (60-100% of the remuneration of medical supplements with risk of coronavirus infection) and 72.2 million euros (to anticipate the salary increase expected from September 2020 from April).
Warns of bothersome symptoms for a long time
The portal tv3.lt recalls that although patients with the most severe coronavirus spend an average of 2 weeks in the hospital, the accompanying symptoms can bother them for several months.
Also, patients who have already recovered may complain of fatigue and lack of strength for a long time, and there is still a lack of clarity on how long the acquired immunity can last.
