Iceland will admit tourists from June, testing them

The island has successfully controlled the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in a large part of the population. The number of tests carried out per thousand inhabitants here is the highest in the world. According to Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, there are only 15 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

Travelers who have just arrived in Iceland will receive the COVID-19 test free of charge. Turkey also promises to test for travelers. If it were positive, they would ask for 14 days of self-isolation in your home or in a hotel.

Now everyone entering the country must be quarantined for two weeks. At the moment, the country only admits those who hold the passports of the Schengen countries.

If the traveler has reliable documentation that they have already had a coronavirus test, they may no longer need a new test.

However, all participants will be asked to install an application created by Iceland that tracks the person’s movement to facilitate identification of their contacts if necessary.

So far, only Keflavik airport is planned to open. If the research is successful there, other locations may open: ferry ports, smaller airports.
