“We are sorry that our staff has detected the coronavirus. She is currently at home, isolated. No close contacts with other colleagues were identified. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health, which is currently conducting an epidemiological study, and we will take additional recommended actions if necessary, “said Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The employee assigned COVID-19 was last at work on Sunday, September 13.

The premises of the store where the worker infected by COVID-19 worked were cleaned and disinfected. By taking additional security measures, the Maxima X store in Ariogala will additionally perform the general disinfection of the premises, so that, according to E. Dapkienė, the employees and customers of this Maxima store can feel safe and continue visiting this store.

“As COVID-19 becomes more common in the country, we realize that the coronavirus can affect everyone. Today, the safety of Maxima employees is a top priority to which we pay great attention. Our Employees are also insured against the coronavirus and, of course, have the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or shields, gloves, hand disinfectant liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell , they have cold or flu symptoms, they are asked to stay home ”, emphasized E. Dapkienė.

Remember that since the end of February, the Maxima retail chain has been subject to stricter hygiene requirements: sanitized carts and baskets have been disinfected, several surfaces have been increased and the circulation of fresh air for ventilation of the stores has been increased. Customers can sanitize their hands and wear free disposable gloves at the entrances, and the safe distance to the store’s checkouts and counters is marked with special lines.

“We invite our customers to be vigilant: in the stores do not forget to wear protective masks, disinfect hands and use free disposable gloves that can be found at the entrance”, says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of Maxima.

A total of 17 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 16 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work.

To date, 580 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. 1 employee is still waiting for a test response.
