– What is Human IPO and how does it work?
– Human IPO is a start-up that tries to reshape the definition of the value of human capital and allows people to invest in other people in whom they believe. Who knows the practice of IPO (Initial Public Offering) in companies, when the company’s shares can be traded on the stock market and their value is determined by the market itself according to the supply-demand relationship, it is easier to imagine the principle of the Human IPO: actions are replaced by human time, more precisely, hours. One person spends a limited amount of them, then others can trade them on the market and earn from that person’s time as well as stocks. While it is possible to make a profit in the near future, they are more of a long-term investment. In other words, this startup allows investors to earn from other people’s success. Human IPO’s vision is to begin to see human capital as a very potential and high-yield investment, while at the same time encouraging people to act by showing faith in them.
– Is investment in human time a popular phenomenon in the world?
– In the world, investing in human time is something very new. Of course, there were various ideas and attempts to implement them. For example, in 2008 Mike Merrill, a simple boy, fulfilled a utopian idea and became the first person in the world to initiate his initial public offering. It is true that he was a radical and did not sell his time, but divided himself into 100,000 shares, which he began to sell for $ 1 each. Over the years, he has received a lot of attention from investors, in one period his share price has risen to $ 18 and he has handed over his life decisions to the shareholders’ meeting. How it see? One of the stories is that the shareholders voted to see if he can meet the girl, and after the shareholders approved, they signed the documents about the relationship, so you can imagine how successful the relationship should have been.
This was the beginning of the human IPO a good decade ago, but it is clear that such a model would not work for a wide audience. Models such as companies or individuals who pay the tuition costs of talented students and then receive part of their salary, also known as the Income Sharing Agreement (ISA), could also be seen as the beginnings of investment in people and their time. Now a new step is being taken where investing in talented people can become the standard, the usual investment to buy time.
– In August, it became the first human IPO in the Baltic States, please tell us about this experience.
– The number of hours I spent in the trade was completely sold out in 20 minutes, 99 percent. the hours spent were sold out in just 8 minutes, which is infinitely fast, and the price has really gone up impressively in a matter of hours. Today the trade is +661 percent. from the initial price, and this is the biggest growth on the Human IPO platform. Therefore, the return on investment for investors already looks very good and shows that human capital can be a recently opened investment market. My mission as the first human IPO in the Baltic countries is to pay attention to the concept, “break” the standards and discover new talent in the local market, in which I would be willing to invest, so I feel that the start is really successful.
– How did you get this offer?
– I got the offer quite unexpectedly. I follow the trends in the field of technology and try new products launched on the market, which is why I also joined this platform. I received an offer to launch an initial public offering and publicize this idea in the Baltic countries. It was easy to agree, as both the majority of the people who joined the project who issued their IPOs and the investors are Silicon Valley people, 30-under-30 rosters, Fortune 500 company founders and players of similar caliber who With your experience, contacts and knowledge you can really help.
– Do you think more Human IPOs will appear in Lithuania in the near future?
– There are many talented and promising people in Lithuania, who I hope will definitely find themselves in the Human IPO and I can invest in them myself. I really see great professionals in the current and growing generation who drive change, innovate and solve delicate problems, take a critical look at challenges. When they meet at the Human IPO, they have the opportunity not only to encourage and rejoice in their victories, but also to earn money from them. Wouldn’t that be a great opportunity to take advantage of that?
