The coronavirus was detected on Tuesday by a student of the Klaipėda “Versmė” progymnasium, the National Public Health Center (NVSC) reported to BNS.

“The person, according to the current assessment, was in school for the entire infectious period last week. He did not go to school this week, ”NVSC representative Justina Petravičienė told BNS.

According to her, this Monday a study was carried out on the symptoms that the student feels.

According to preliminary data, 30 students had contact with the infected person and twelve teachers carried out prophylactic tests for COVID-19.

According to J. Petravičienė, epidemiologists are still clarifying where a child could have been infected.

“The epidemiological study continues, but so far our specialists have not established clear links between the child’s contact with people already infected or those who have returned from abroad. So the circumstances of the infection are still unclear, “he explained.

According to Gražina Pocienė, director of the progymnasium at BNS, not only the classmates of the infected person in isolation, but also students from another nearby class will temporarily study remotely.

“Because the infected cousin is studying there, we decided to teach those children remotely until she takes a survey and the answers are clear,” said the director.

According to her, after the disinfection of the school facilities on Tuesday morning, the regular contact education of other students will continue.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that a coronavirus had been detected in Klaipėda county for a pupil of the Gargždai “Gintarėlis” kindergarten.

According to J. Petravičienė, both cases will be included in Wednesday’s statistics.

According to the NVSC representative, the COVID-19 disease currently affects 16 Lithuanian students, but none of them were infected at the educational institution.
