Ramūnas Vyšniauskas, a famous weightlifter in the past, was the last to be punished. The 43-year-old from Klaipėda, who worked as a coach in major sports after the end of his career, was disqualified for eight years for possession of prohibited substances, until January 15, 2028.
The duration of the sanction was determined by the fact that R. Vyšniauskas is punished for the second time in the last ten years for anti-doping rule violations.
The Olympic career ended in 2015 with a two-year disqualification. Subsequently, prohibited substances classified as anabolic steroids were detected in the athlete’s body.
R. Vyšniauskas first got caught in doping controllers in 1997, when he received similar punishments.
On Monday, the Anti-Doping Agency also announced another sentence imposed on the father and coach of former European champion Bronislav Vyšniauskas.
The 72-year-old specialist was also found guilty of possession of illicit drugs. He was disqualified for four years, but this sentence was combined with a more severe penalty in June for prescribing a prohibited drug, a disqualification for ten years.
B. Vyšniauskas will be able to train weightlifters again only in 2030.

Panevėžys cycling specialist Antanas Jakimavičius, who was disqualified by the anti-doping agency for four years, was similarly punished.
The latter’s colleague, Solveiga Baleišytė, paid off with a two-year disqualification.
Vytautas Stašinskas, general secretary of the Lithuanian Athletics Federation (three-year disqualification), Lolita Rapolienė (five-year disqualification) and two weightlifters: Žygimantas Stanulis and Irmantas Kačinskas, both disqualified for two years, were also sentenced.
