“This study (population – BNS) has been approved by the Lithuanian Bioethics Committee until 10 September. On September 10 we finished testing people, that is, we take blood samples and see if antibodies are formed. After that, there will be data analysis, ”the researcher told LRT radio on Monday.

“The first preliminary results will be visible on the afternoon of September 11,” he said.

According to M. Stankūnas, later the scientists will analyze the obtained data.

“Later, we will go deeper, we will see more detailed interfaces, we will see how and what there is. It will be later, more for professionals, researchers, politicians, health professionals,” he said.

The researcher claimed that there has been a recent decline in people’s interest in the study. Especially the residents of Klaip ,da, who have been invited to participate in the study, do not register to donate blood.

“If in the first days there was disinterest, people could not register, even guests could not call, the flow has now decreased,” said M. Stankūnas.

The population study aims to determine what proportion of the population may have been exposed to the coronavirus without knowing it. Invited volunteers undergo serological testing for COVID-19. They show antibodies formed in the body. These studies look at human blood.

The investigation began on August 10. Samples are taken from the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and the districts of Ukmergė, Tauragė and Zarasai. A total of 13 thousand invitations were sent. It is planned to halve the number of people to study, about 6.5 thousand. persons.
