Only Demetrius Jackson has come to Vilnius, and Andrew Goudelock and Chris McCullough have not yet. Although there were only a few weeks left for the start of the season.

Until now, during the preparation period, the places of these important players were occupied by the young Vilnius “Perlo”, whom D.Kairys thanked for their help in the training process.

Here’s an interview with Rytas’ trainer.

– The team is finished, how do you rate the summer jobs?

– I appreciate it, we worked well, we gathered the players we wanted to fit our style and fit with our team. All that was left was for everyone to wait.

– Who participated in the assembly. Is it more your job, Rolandas Jarutis or general?

– I can say that it was a team effort, because I was present from the coaching staff, not only me, but all the assistants. Rolandas Jarutis helped a lot, the last word was always mine, but it was teamwork.

– Legionnaires are just starting to go to Vilnius, how difficult is the preparation?

– Well, it makes it difficult … Of course, we try to create combinations to emphasize our strengths, but some of the top basketball players are not in training yet. It’s a bit tricky, but I’m glad we still have 12 players in training, we can do our drills and learn the combinations a bit.

– What do you expect from Andrew Goudelock?

– First of all, it is a real scoring machine. Everyone knows him as he promises. Yeah, we haven’t seen it in a few years due to trauma and other things. We know he tried to get back to basketball last season, but it was too short and too early, according to his doctors. We really don’t know yet how well he can play. We know that he played sports in the summer, without losing certain skills. We hope your experience goes well with our hungry youth.

– What can you say about Demetrius Jackson?

– First of all, this is an impressive athletic figure basketball player. We hope that a tough defense from him sets the tone as a player for the whole team. So is agility … He will start all the attacks, we want to play fast, move fast to the midline and it will be him who helps us create it.

– The newest rookie on the team is Chris McCullough. What kind of player is this, what are his options?

– Probably the best way to describe it, if in one word, is versatility. Yes, he is very tall, with very long arms, but also very mobile, he handles the ball well, he can hit and from afar, break through.

– Have you had some friendly matches, are you happy with the game?

– Well, I don’t know if I can judge. Everything is still before my eyes. Another match waits for a few days. We learn combinations, we try to get into the rhythm, we get used to the speed, we try to put ourselves in an awkward position when everything needs to be done faster, with more precision, with more clarity.

– There are several weeks before the start of the season, what are the most important tasks during them?

– Learn combinations, learn to speak, communicate, feel each other. There is still much to come. We haven’t seen some players yet. So when they arrive you will need to quickly enter them and prepare for the first match.
