According to data from the National Public Health Laboratory on Saturday morning, the disease caused by coronavirus infection in Lithuania currently affects 989 people.

This week, from August 31 to September 6 inclusive, residents of the districts of Molėtai, Kaunas, Trakai, Švenčionys, Kupiškis, Skuodas, Tauragė and Pasvalys, as well as the cities of Elektrėnai, Vilnius and Kaunas will undergo further testing intensive tests to detect coronavirus infection. These 11 municipalities have a higher incidence of coronavirus infection than other Lithuanian municipalities.
In Lithuania, the quarantine was announced on March 16 and was valid until June 16 inclusive. However, the emergency regime was maintained to allow stricter restrictions on individual coronavirus outbreaks as needed. Masks are currently mandatory in closed public places.

According to the WHO, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has exceeded 26 million. Since mid-July, about a million new infections have been recorded worldwide approximately every four days.
The United States, Brazil and India are the countries most affected by the coronavirus.
On Saturday morning, LRT radio announced that more than 30 new cases of coronavirus had been registered in Lithuania. According to LRT radio, most cases are diagnosed in Vilnius county.
According to Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius Department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), the number of infections is growing at hotspots.
