The “Days of the Capital” start on Friday: traffic will change, public transport will last longer

Concerts, exhibitions, fairs, performances and educational activities will take place over three days on Gediminas avenue, the cathedral, V. Kudirka and Lukiškės squares, in the park near the National Museum of Lithuania, on the Neris embankment, near the Bridge White.

A 3D video projection is planned over the elevated water of the Neris River at the White Bridge.

On Saltoniškių Street, between the new commercial office buildings, the installation “Birds of the City” by artist Jurgis Pauliukas will be installed. At dusk, it will glow with lighting created especially for “Capital Days”, it will run all night. This space installation will invite you to perpetuate more than 1200 birds.

Due to the threat of the coronavirus to concerts, the realization of the 3D projection of water “That spatial lightness of being”, other events, the electronic registration of the audience is required.

The event organizers ask participants to wear masks.

During the events, temporary traffic changes are planned, for the convenience of the participants, public transportation will run more and more frequently, and high-speed buses will stop at all stops along the route. Vilnius reminds you to take care of yourself and those around you, observe all safety requirements at events and other spaces: wear masks, keep a safe distance, disinfect your hands if you feel cold symptoms, stay home.

What traffic restrictions are foreseen?

  • Starting September 3. 8 pm until September 7. 11 a. M. traffic will be prohibited on Gediminas avenue from Šventaragio to Vilniaus street, on Totorių street from Gediminas avenue to the building on Totorių str. 8 that prohibits entry through side streets.

  • Starting September 3. 2 pm Until 7 September. 11 a. M.. Traffic is prohibited on Gediminas avenue from Vilnius to J. Tumo-Vaižganto street by prohibiting entry through the side streets, on the part of Vasario 16-osios street from Šermukšnių street to Gediminas avenue (except for participants of the event who have permits to enter the territory of the event, bring and carry items for the event)).

  • September 4 and 5. from 20:00 to 23:40 Vehicle traffic will be prohibited on Šventaragio and T. Vrublevskio streets. Changes are also currently planned in the routes and schedules of public transport routes.

In accordance with the decision of the Municipal Council “Transportation Services”, the permits issued to residents and companies to park cars in paid parking lots in the blue and red zones during the events of the “Capital Days 2020” from 3 to 7 September are also valid in other parking areas.

How to go to events by public transport?

Vilnius residents and guests are invited to attend events in the center of the capital on Vilnius buses and trolleybuses.

To the Rey Mindaugas Bridge stop it is more convenient to drive 6G, 10 (09.04 – 09.05 at 20:00), 11 (09.04 – 09.05 a 20), 33 (09.04 – 09.05 from 20:00 until the end of the route) and 89 (09.04 – 09.05 from 8:00 p.m. to the end of the tour) by bus and trolleybus routes 2, 3, 4, 17 and 20.

The Vincas Kudirka square to the stop is 1G, 10 (09.04 – 09.05 from 20 to 23.40), on buses on routes 53 and 88 and on trolleybuses on routes 2, 3, 6, 12 and 20. Buses 10, 11 , 33 and 89 will arrive at the Cathedral stop (09.04 – 09.05 until 20:00).

The days of the event, 4-5 September. the execution time of some routes will be extended. After the events in the city center, it will be possible to take public transport at the following stops:

  • Green Bridge: 1G, 3G, 6G, 10, 43, 52, 53 route buses and 14 route trolleybuses.
  • King Mindaugas Bridge – 6G, 10 route buses and 4, 17 route trolleybuses.
  • Polyclinic Pamėnkalnis and Center – Trolleybuses with 7 routes.
  • Plaza Europa – on 3G, 4G, 43, 52 routes buses.
  • Kražiai stops: 3G, 40 bus lines and 4, 14, 17 trolleybus lines.
  • The Lukiškės route bus – 22, going in the direction of Lazdynai, will take passengers to the Savanori parada avenue stop, where passengers will have the opportunity to reach the districts of Karoliniškės, Justiniškės, Viršulišk Pas and Pašilaičiai by transferring to the trolleybuses of route 16.

For buses 1G, 3G, 4G, 6G, 10, 22.40, 43, 52, 53 and trolleybuses 4, 7, 14, 16, 17, the operating time will be extended from 23.30 to 01.30 for the convenience of passengers. Currently, high-speed buses will stop at all stops on the route, and the aforementioned buses and trolley buses will run every 15-20 minutes. based on separate scheduled times to be posted on the website.

In public transport, you are asked not to forget the basic rules: wear masks, keep a safe distance at stops and during travel, disinfect your hands.

How will the bus routes be changed?
