Doctors fear the second wave will arrive soon: it is not known how many bodies will be left to work

It is not yet clear how it will be necessary to work in the fall: whether the planned treatment will be stopped again, as it happened during the quarantine.

We didn’t even have to wait even in the fall, although epidemiologists expected us to take a breather from the coronavirus in the summer, and a new wave will only arrive in October, but the number of cases is increasing.

Doctors also fear the autumn in the nose, the incidence of the coronavirus in a similar way to that of spring, and how to work when the number of new cases increases even more, it is not clear. Doctors complain that it is not yet known how the treatment facilities will function when the second wave of coronavirus arrives: if they will be closed in quarantine, if they will only provide emergency care, or if they will function as they do now, accepting all patients. .

Živilė Gudlevičienė, the head of the Lithuanian Medical Movement, told LNK News that medical institutions were confused.

“There is no clear plan of action on what will be done with those organs. Hardly all of them will be closed, leaving only the combat hospitals to operate, or there will only be consultation and remote treatment only for emergencies. Will the institutions work as they do? now? ”Ž. Gudlevičienė.

Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga explains that the future of medical institutions will become clearer in the coming days. However, it is already clear that fewer planned patients will be admitted.

“Within a couple of days, the principle of such a traffic light should be agreed with the medical institutions. When the yellow light turns on, the planned bedding would be reduced. Because there has to be a certain reserve, because the medical institutions cannot put all the beds, ”said A. Veryga.

The minister hopes that there will not be such a drastic closure of the treatment facilities as in the spring. It is true that in the event of a coronavirus outbreak at the facility, scheduled treatment services would be completely disrupted.

Doctors also fear having too few guarantees.

“It may be that in mid-September, or at the end of September, it can be noticed that the second wave of coronavirus has begun. It is necessary to prepare now. As much as I had to communicate with the heads of medical institutions, small institutions have a month, maybe a year and a half, of internal reserves ”, Ž commented. Gudlevičienė.

For the minister, these figures sound positive.

“It is very good if you have a reserve of protective equipment for a month and a half, it means that you are preparing it, you listened to our demands. Because usually having both is enough and then buying in advance, ”said A. Veryga.
