Coronavirus infection continues to spread at the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital in Antakalnis: five new cases were confirmed at this institution last day, the National Center for Public Health announced Monday.
The coronavirus at Antakalnis Hospital has been confirmed by eight staff members and ten patients since last Thursday.
“The epidemiological situation is very unfavorable. We have eighteen cases of COVID-19 registered,” said Rolanda Lingienė, Head of the Vilnius Department of the National Center for Public Health, at a press conference.
According to her, eight infected patients from the hospital were treated in the internal medicine department, two in the intensive care unit and in the intensive care unit. All ten were transferred to the Santara clinics.
According to R. Lingienė, all the patients in these wards and 81 doctors were examined last week. Doctors were instructed to repeat the tests after one week.
A total of six new cases were confirmed in Lithuania per day. The sixth case was established for an eleven-year-old boy who, along with a relative, flew back to Vilnius airport from Moscow in a private plane. The minor was found to be infected by relatives in the Russian capital.
“The 11-year-old sick person returned to Moscow airport from Moscow along with another family member on Friday in a private plane,” said R. Lingienė.
The boy had no symptoms at the Vilnius airport. The virus was confirmed to the boy on Sunday after being tested at a mobile checkpoint in Klaipeda.
Over the weekend, 43 new cases were confirmed in Lithuania; According to the revised data, about 33 cases of the virus would be announced on Saturday and about 10 new cases on Sunday.
Most of these cases are related to the chimneys at the Antaviliai pension and the Antakalnis hospital. A case was also detected in the Lithuanian Armed Forces over the weekend.
The two most recent cases, to be included in the daily statistics published on Tuesday, were recorded at the “Pušyno kelias” rehabilitation center in Vilnius: two new cases of the disease were identified here on Monday. A total of 11 people are sick: two staff members and nine patients.
