Elon Musk, head of U.S. electric car maker Tesla, threatened to move the company’s headquarters and plant out of California on Saturday after the local authority prevented him from resuming operations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It just came to our attention then.” Tesla will now immediately relocate its headquarters and future programs to Texas or Nevada, “Muskas wrote on Twitter. The long history recalls his previous online rants, which did not always come true.
Speaking about the California city where his cars are manufactured, Musk emphasized that “how Tesla will be treated in the future” will determine whether “we will continue to produce in Frimonte.”
Tesla hoped to reopen a plant in California in early May, its only facility in the United States, but local authorities have thwarted the company’s plans.
E. Muskas drew attention to the company’s experience in China, where electric car production resumed in the country after the COVID-19 epidemic.
“Based on our experience at the Tesla plant in China, Tesla knows much more about safety than an interim (unelected) official,” the businessman wrote on Twitter, referring to a local health official.
The sometimes emotionally outspoken billionaire, who reported earlier this week that his girlfriend, musician Grimes (Graims), gave birth to a couple of children, threatened to “immediately” sue the Alamida district where the factory is located, and accused local authorities of being “irrational, separated from reality.”
