The exceptions to the use of face shields for some people with disabilities go into effect today. They will not be allowed to use masks or other respiratory protection equipment in places of provision of services, leisure and entertainment, competitions and sporting events, airports, public transport or workplaces, if they cannot use them due to their state of health or could harm the disabled person. Health.

This exception is foreseen in the decision signed today by the head of state emergency operations at the state level, the Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga.

“We have repeatedly called for public awareness, tolerance and understanding of people with disabilities. Unfortunately, the stories described in the public sphere in recent days, such as the insult to people with disabilities in public transport or the inability to enter the stores without a mask show a lack of tolerance and elemental humanity. Therefore, the decision was made to formalize these exceptions so that there would be no room for interpretation, because it seems that verbal requests are not enough “, says Minister A. Veryga.

Minister A. Veryga deplores and apologizes to those families and individuals who have suffered humiliation and insults due to their disability and inability to wear a mask or other face protection.

“It just came to our attention then. I hope the legal exception is clear to everyone and that there are no more questions or wishes to offend the weak. We need to understand that no one is protected from disability. It can happen to anyone: ourselves, ourselves, children, grandchildren, relatives. So let’s be understanding, tolerant and friendly to each other, “says Minister A. Veryga.

The Ministry of Health (SAM) recalls that protective masks must be worn at commercial service points, competitions and sporting events, airport facilities, public transport workplaces for employees and visitors, children over 6 years of age. Exceptions apply when protective masks interfere with the provision of services, such as a facial beauty procedure or a beard shaving service.
It is not necessary to wear the mask when playing sports in sports clubs and when visiting leisure or amusement parks.
