The 81st death from coronavirus was registered in the Santara clinics. A 54-year-old Franciscan monk from Kretinga, Brother Arūnas Brazauskas, did not survive here. His colleagues say an artificial lung ventilator has been attached to the monk in recent days, but doctors have been unable to save his life.

Although public health specialists mention that the husband’s death was accompanied by comorbidities, according to the monk’s acquaintances, Brother Arūnas Brazauskas did not complain of serious health problems.

Francis Algirdas Malakauskas tells about the deceased: “He led a healthy lifestyle, practiced sports and, unfortunately, the doctors suggested that the virus, like a living being, likes a healthy organism. As I understand it, neither a sick nor healthy person is vulnerable to this disease. ”

The coronavirus was detected at the Klaipėda University Hospital in early July for a Franciscan brother who lived in the Monastery of the Revelation of the Lord in Kretinga. The monk returned from the Czech Republic by car on July 3 and soon felt the symptoms.

“He was a wonderful and warm person. He participated in sincere activities with the people of Kretinga. There were many patients, many other people who needed help ”, says A. Malakauskas.

Public health professionals have once again registered double-digit COVID-19 cases. The number of new infections is constantly increasing. 17 cases were registered on Monday, 10 on Sunday and 17 on Saturday. However, a sad trend remains stable. Yesterday, more than half of all registered cases were unclear. Patients do not know where they were infected with the virus.

“People did not indicate that they were abroad, that they were in festivals, that they were in festivals, restaurants, festivals in the city or that they had contact with cases of Covid-19,” says Rolanda Lingienė, spokesperson for the Center for Public Health.

“There is no special threat, but it shows that the virus is really circulating in society, that it comes from some infected people who did not feel infected,” commented immunologist Aurelija Žvirblienė.

Not all people who do not know how and when they were infected with the virus hide their information. Others say they have visited a wide variety of places. Before the onset of symptoms, he managed to stay on the Lithuanian coast, in the Šventoji spa, in swimming pools, sports clubs, night entertainment venues and medical institutions. With such a spread of the virus, according to immunologists, it is necessary to start protection not only in high-risk areas, but in all public places.

“You always have to think that someone next to power is infected. And you yourself may be infected without knowing it. That is the basic rule. Act as if you were infected and think that the person next to you is infected,” says the immunologist.

Currently, researchers are trying to find out how many people in Lithuania have gotten sick with coronavirus without knowing it. To implement this goal, a special study is being carried out, during which about six thousand five hundred inhabitants of the country from the districts of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Ukmergė, Tauragė and Zarasai will be examined.

Similar studies have been conducted in other foreign countries. The body of the population will be searched for antibodies.

“These studies give an idea of the real part of the population. A study carried out in Finland showed that 3 percent. Research in Spain has shown enormous variations between regions, from 1.5% to 15%,” he said. researcher Minsaugas Sankūnas.

A population study on the coronavirus should begin next week. Invitations are currently being sent to people. Public health professionals are already speaking out more boldly about the new restrictions. Those returning from Poland from Monday are almost guaranteed to have to self-isolate for two weeks. Driving there is no longer recommended.

“I don’t know what kind of miracle must happen, so that after leaving for Poland on Monday, I no longer have to isolate myself when I return,” thinks R. Lingienė.

There may be more restrictions in Lithuania. It is said that the mandatory registration of participants of cultural and sporting events, foreign. Having that data would make it easier for professionals to track the spread of the virus. The coronavirus in Lithuania recovered in 1650, 81 people died and 403 people were sick.
