Following the outbreak, the shipowner froze all cruise trips on Monday and Norway closed ports for cruise ships for two weeks.

According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, a total of 37 crew members and 16 passengers were confirmed for infection during two trips last month. All passengers were registered as Norwegian residents.

MS Roald Amundsen often operates as a local port-to-port ferry along the west coast of Norway. Some passengers disembarked while traveling that route, so authorities fear that they have spread the virus to local communities.

In the Arctic port city of Buda, the coronavirus has been confirmed for both crew and passengers. The tests were carried out “with extreme caution”, according to the Norwegian company SeaDream Yacht Club, which owns the boat.

The ship, which arrived in Buda early on Wednesday, was quarantined because a former passenger from Denmark was diagnosed with COVID-19.
