On his Facebook account, the prime minister confirmed that the students would go to school in September, as conditions were already in place and it had been decided in consultation with epidemiologists how safety could be guaranteed.
“Children and their parents can calmly prepare for the September 1 celebration. The school year will begin in educational institutions, not on home computer screens.
Educational institutions will operate and guarantee the safety of students and teachers. We introduce clear criteria based on which we will organize the educational process, assessing the situation in each municipality.
Together with epidemiologists, we have anticipated the conditions under which the educational process will unfold as usual, when masks will be introduced, and when the need for distance education will be considered. So far, no Lithuanian municipality has reached the risk threshold.
We are ready to ensure that the quality of children’s education is not compromised and that parents can work peacefully.
The Minister of Education, Science and Sports will provide more information tomorrow, “wrote S. Skvernelis.
Education, Science and Sports Minister Algirdas Monkevičius also said on Monday that it is planned to start the school year in the usual way, but in accordance with the highest safety requirements. According to him, the distance education method could be partly applied in the upper classes, while the aim is for preschool and primary education to develop directly.
The start of the school year in vocational and general education schools will begin on September 1, but freshmen from institutions of higher education are encouraged to delay the start of the school year as.
